About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to get through this adventure with as many laughs and as few bruises as possible (without damaging others)

ABOUT ME

I got to the Bay Area a short time ago, after spending most of the past year in Iraq on a magazine assignment. I'm excited to finally be able to pay back all the couch space I've borrowed over the past year. With investigative journalism in the tank, I find myself working a lot to make the ends meet in a city where money evaporates quicker than water. When I'm not toiling for The Man or The Landlord, I'm usually having drinks with friends-- and often that's at the weekly CS meet-up.

PHILOSOPHY

have as much fun as possible without losing sight of where you're going and without hurting anybody in the process.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I spent last summer in Spain and I haven't lived there in years-- my contact list has thinned substantially. Thanks to the CS'ers there, I had a blast and made some lifelong friends. And now ... onto the SF community and hosting the world, one surfer at a time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The extended group/family I met through CS in Madrid consisted largely of Espanoles (I love speaking puro Castellano) and when they learned I was from Maryland they freaked. That was my nickname for the rest of the summer.

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

cormac mccarthy is such a good writer he makes me feel like giving up on the endeavor.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

i once wrestled a grizzly bear and a 2-ton bull at the same time and they beat me 5-4 on points.
i'm currently training to be an astronaut (and it's f'ing grueling). two hours a day on a trampoline, plus wading in the pool with moon boots on. and lots of tang. (f'ing grueling)

Teach, Learn, Share

when you ask someone a question, listen. if you stay quiet long enough, they will tell you more than they ever wanted to. silence is uncomfortable for most people.
