ABOUT ME

Hello everyone,

no matter how much beer I drink, I came to realize that I'm a sober person. It's very hard to give an accurate impression of ourselves through a short text, but I can say that an important part of my character is sobriety. What I mean is that I am in this constant search for balance. My life is a little bit upside down now with all those works for university, so I haven't been sleeping or eating properly, but my mental state is still very sane.

Given that much of my reactions and behavior depend on how you present yourself to me, I can say beforehand that I'm quite open to what's different and I consider myself to be someone very respectful. I like what's true and authentic. I have nearly no restrictions towards food, religion or sexual option, and I think that "freedom of being" is essential for living a good life. There's an interesting brazilian proverb with which I absolutely agree: "each head bears a different sentence".

There's one thing, however, that I don't like: people who talk too loud.

PHILOSOPHY

Old man's guide is chance. I bite my knuckles when I got nothing to say.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Thanks to Couch Surfing I made good friends while traveling; and also in the local community. If my experiences were not all of them extremely positive ones, I can gladly say that I've never had a bad one.

Interests

I'm very interested in art, I have always been sensible to it. Music, poetry/litterature, cinema, theater, painting, sculpture...art is vital. When I was 4 years old I performed my first acting role on stage. Now, out of the stage, I've been writing songs for my poems and poems for my songs.

I'm also very interested in international relations, which is actually my field of studies. Cultural, political and, in a lesser scale, economical international issues are something quite interesting to discuss about, and it's perfect to have it on the table along with good beer. We can change the world in two days. Or in two pints.

I could spend hours talking about my interests, but I'll unveil it little by little once we get together, alright?

Music, Movies, and Books

It's really a hard task to present a list with all the good stuff I've seen, read or heard. Fortunately there's much more good works on this Earth than we'd be able to enjoy it in a lifetime. For that reason, I'll state what I'm digging for the moment:

- movie: Jacques Tati "Jour de fête" was the last one I've seen. Amazing! I loved it.

- books: apart from the several I.R. books I've been reading lately, the last book I read was "Histoire de la sexualité - volume I" de Michel Foucault. Excellent approach on one of my favourite issues - not sexuality alone, but culture, which is broader. Really taught me a lot.

- music: avant tout, rock'n'roll. Cornerstones of my musical taste are Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest...yes, the old school. But I've been recycling a lot my musical taste, specially when I discovered "les variétés françaises" and the reggae. The last record I bought and which has REALLY made an impression on me is Peter Hammil's first solo album (1971) "Fool's mate". And one of the artists that has influenced me the most during the last 2 years is Neil Young.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ik heb Nederlands in twee weken gelert. Ik ben trots, maar er is nog toch veel te leren en oefenen. Zullen wij praten?
