ABOUT ME

I used to play music in New Orleans for a little bit--didn't make $ at it, and worked at a coffee shop in the marigny... then I went back home to Columbia (after Katrina) and worked for a couple years at the greatest job I will probably ever have: the "Peace Nook", a non-profit bookstore, organic food shop, fair-trade goods, and community center. I worked thirty hours a week and could bike there. And then for some reason I decided to go to grad school in bloomington, indiana! Luckily Bloomington is pretty cool.

PHILOSOPHY

the personal philosophy I would LIKE to live up to is to realize this life may very well be our only shot, and not to waste it. easier said than done...

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

this is a great new thing for me. I've got friends who rave about couchsurfing and have been all over the world--I'm itching to travel again soon and would like to meet some cool folks.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with a wonderful woman named Zori last summer (2009) down in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I met some other couchsurfers while I was there--all great people!

Interests

I like typewriters and record-players. And rotary phones. I have a cell phone, but sometimes wish I didn't.
I guess I'm sort of a techno-phobe in some respects... at least that's what my friends tell me because I am not on 'facebook'. This site, on the other hand, I can get behind.

hmmm... don't want to pigeon-hole myself here... I like Django Reinhardt, Tom Waits, the Flaming Lips, Gogol Bordello, Kelly Joe Phelps, Nick Drake and much more for music...
for books, I'm a big Kurt Vonnegut and Tom Robbins fan.
