Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Why I'm on Couchsurfing? Because I like taking chances.
You take a chance on me, I take a chance on you.
2008: I came to Chicago to visit a buddy, did not have a place to stay. I was freaking out, lost and cold and had nowhere to go. I discovered CS and SURF with Patrick Dawl . His profile was blank and mine had no references. We took a chance on each other. We became friends.
2009- 2012: I hosted many people who came by Saigon. I took these chances and some of them became long-lasting friends /brothers.

2015 - After finishing school. I decided to hitchhike
Hitchhiking and sleeping on people's couches from San Jose -> LA-> Tucson desert -> Phoenix, I met 3 kinds of people on this trip :
- people who actually HAVE to hitchhike because they have no money to take public transportation
- people who are kind enough to risk their personal safety , stop on the freeway and give them rides
- people who have faith in others and let strangers into their homes
This trip means a lot more to me than just a vacation. It restores faith in humanity of this f*cked up world ! Suck it America , kindness always wins.
We all take chances in life. Some help us succeed and some give us bruises.
Doesn't matter ! they all help us form a better version of ourselves everyday.

2016, I started a scholarship foundation that works to improve the quality of life for people who live with visual impairment and other disabilities in Vietnam.
2017, I took a step back and let a blind friend run the foundation. I remained as the major donor and advisor to him. I am still 99% involved :-) This decision was made after I learned that he is very passionate with this work and he is the appropriate person to advocate for the Visually impaired community since he is also blind. I took a chance on him as he took a chance on me.
2018, my hope is to start a micro-lending project that empowers small businesses in Vietnam owned by people who live with visual impairment and other disabilities. I will once again take a chance and hope for the best.
