ABOUT ME---wow, logged in after YEARS! Need to update this! For now, you can check out my IG for my most recent adventures! embly_h_rn 😉
After traveling the globe for a few years, I decided to buckle down and finish my studies. Being landlocked drives me CRAZY, but now I have my BSN and 5+ years perianesthesia nursing experience under my belt. So off to cure the world one developing nation and disaster area at a time. Currently in Senegal working on a hospital ship.
I can communicate with you in Spanish, understand your Portuguese, German (not so well) and French (also not so well) but in English I'm practically dyslexic. I'm currently working on all of those!
I'm a tall, awkward vegetarian. But meat is welcome in my home. I'm very laid back about my eating habits and try many things when I travel.
I love zombie movies and Oldies. I'm a HUGE wino, but what nurse isn't?!
PHILOSOPHY
"Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake."
--Henry David Thoreau-
"Afoot and lighthearted I take to the open road,
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me, leading wherever I choose.
From this hour, freedom!
From this hour I ordain myself loos'd of limits and imaginary lines,
Going where I list, my own master, total and absolute,
Listening to others, and considering well what they say,
Pausing, searching, receiving, contemplating,
Gently, but with undeniable will, divesting myself of the hold that would hold me."
-Walt Whitman,Song of the Open Road
"The time will come when men such as I look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men" - Leonardo da Vinci
"Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way, you'll be a mile from them, AND you'll have their shoes."
-Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy
oh and....
"Become a communist, pacifist, vegetarian like me or I'll kill you, take all your possessions and eat your body."
Just kidding...umm.....
You might say I'm "somewhat a combative pacifist and cooperative anarchist"
-I forget which feminist activist said this!

Music, Movies, and Books
Anything & everything with passion that interests me, I go through stages but will always be a fan of the classics of any genre!
A brief synopsis music wise, I love oldies, 80/90's pop rock, classic rock, indie rock, marengue/cumbia, folk jazz, blues, country...basically EVERYTHING. Ive been listening to alot of Blind Pilot, kings of cenvenience, damien rice, johnny cash, the cure, josh ritter, Seu Jorge, depeche mode, Jens Lekman, Sea Wolf, and sara tavares and a lot of Portugese Fados as of lately.
***My favorite films are Clockwork Orange, A Philadelphia Story, Star Wars(4,5 &6), Casablanca, Amelie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and I Heart Huckabees, Fight Club and any zombie or vampire movie w/ a plethora of cheap effects and nudity. Cabin in the Woods was the last good movie I saw in theaters.
Good books: El Plan infinito, El Viaje al Rieno de los Deseos (I Like to read in spanish), The Third Policeman, Mind Fields (not sure if this counts as "book" parse),Hamlet and my pathophysiology/nursing textbooks (I know, I'm a nerd)
