About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live in Love

ABOUT ME

I am a world traveler. Seriously.

I'm pretty fun and like to enjoy myself wherever I am. I love meeting people I can't keep up with because they tend to be rare. If I have to struggle to keep up with you on a bicycle then that's even better!

2010 was the year I sailed from Mexico to Australia, my new home. It was a great adventure, but just one of many, and many more to come. I am currently working on my long term plans in Australia, which include teaching humanities in secondary school.

I have a penchant for skinny dipping.

PHILOSOPHY

The world's a big place. You've got to keep moving to see it all.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting parties and initiating skinny dipping are my ways to strengthen CS. I also talk about it all the damn time!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met a friend's couchsurfer a few years ago and it was a positive experience. Then I met an amazing couchsurfer (also Lydia) on a rideshare in 2009 and thus began my new couchsurfing life.

Interests

Music, the world, other cultures, love, my nieces and nephews, eating raw food, eating paleo food, swimming in anything that won't kill me (so not much swimming in Australia), cycling and getting better at everything every day

Music, Movies, and Books

Gone With the Wind, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Dostoyevsky, The Alchemist, Radiohead, Kaki King, electronic music, Dionne Warwick, classical masterpieces, Beethoven, Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 (lifelong fan), kitschy music like Spice Girls

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveling the Trans-Siberian alone and with horribly poor Russian language skills was an amazing experience beyond all others. It's a great way to learn the language of the world and connect with friends you can't even understand in words, but you learn to understand their human connection to you and it's the greatest feeling in the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

Clear the table and do the dishes before anyone has a chance to do it first. People will let you stay as long as you want if you live by this rule, says my hitchhiking uncle.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share travel tips about Europe, sailing, Australia, all of North America (Panama and up), Russia and the South Pacific. I can also share lots of great healthy dishes.

Countries I’ve Visited

Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Belize, Canada, Cook Islands, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Fiji, Finland, France, French Polynesia, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, India, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Monaco, Morocco, Netherlands, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Niue, Norway, Panama, Portugal, Russian Federation, San Marino, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tonga, Vanuatu, Vatican City State
