About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To experience as much as I can; to keep learning. To try to contribute; to be involved.
ABOUT ME
I love music. I love life. I have a tendency to worry too much about silly things, and to take a long time making trivial decisions. There are so many things I would like to do.
I am interested in just about everything. If it exists, I would like knowing or learning about it. I have a fondness for whimsy, trees, people, chocolate, tea, philosophies, and good books. The definition of good is, or course, pretty broad.
I love people! I love getting to meet people.
PHILOSOPHY
I think perspective is important.
And that every person, everywhere is valuable.
"years ago, I recognized my kinship with all living beings..." -Eugene V. Debs
"I believe if there's any kind of God it wouldn't be in any of us, not you or me but just this little space in between. If there's any kind of magic in this world it must be in the attempt of understanding someone sharing something. I know, it's almost impossible to succeed but who cares really? The answer must be in the attempt."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
The world is so vast and diverse!
I'm here to take an active stance in my continued, practical, people-based education. I want to meet, laugh, cry, share, do, see, listen, learn, give, exchange.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have stayed in people's homes before, outside of couch surfing, when touring with musical groups. It's wonderful to me that people so willingly open their homes, and that the experience is a positive, learning one for everyone involved.
I have hosted once, and it was just fantastic. Since, unfortunately, I haven't had any kind of couch with which to host. I look forward to the day when I do have a space of my own in which I can host other couch surfers.

Music, Movies, and Books
I adore most any music. I try, especially with music I don't like at the moment, or have never heard before, to understand what's going on, and where it's coming from. Music may not necessarily be a universal language, but I think it helps people speak to parts of themselves and each other that spoken or written language alone has difficulty reaching.
I am fascinated with human nature, and with the social aspects of ourselves, both individually and collectively. I genuinely love people.
I like books. Right now I'm reading, on and off, Salman Rushdie's "The Ground Beneath Her Feet" and Naomi Klein's "The Shock Doctrine"; both are fantastic for very different reasons. I love the book "Life of Pi". And I'm an eternal fan of both Dave Eggers' writings and deeds in life.
Some of my favorite movies: Wings of Desire, Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind, Me and You and Everyone We Know, Waking Life, The Princess Bride, Bernard and the Genie...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There are either a lot, or none. I can't decide.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can play a mean uke, some guitar, piano, and I LOVE to sing. I'd be ecstatic to teach you some of what I know on any of those counts, and realistically, I would lovelovelove to share any of my musical knowledge- history, theory, practical application, etc...
I have a handful of recipes that are delicious. I can teach you various American cookingthings.
I'm always a fan of ideological discussions, too. Especially if we have conflicting opinions. With me, it's never personal. How else do you learn, unless you exchange ideas with someone who thinks differently?
I could try to teach you some beginning crochet.
I know a little bit about live sound, and soldering, and DIY electronics.
I like to learn, in general. The areas where I can learn things are many, but my biggest knowledge and ability gaps tend to be anything athletic. Of course, I always love to learn new things musical, culinary, artistic, trade-related...
