About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To jump down this rabbit hole and see where it takes me...

ABOUT ME

A few months ago I followed a hunch and came to NYC and before I knew it, I'm coming back to this intensely colorful city to study at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theater. So it seems I have a date with destiny... I'm a woman intrigued by the signs that hint towards following a particular path. Although I can't fully own the title "actor", I'm giving myself the opportunity to deeply immerse myself in this craft. There's something inside me that wants to be unlocked; broken open. Bring it!

PHILOSOPHY

I know this sounds sinister but it's a quote from a famous acting teacher named Stella Adler:

"Listen with your blood"

It means that the actor must listen deeply, intensely, right here, right now in the present moment with no preconception of how words are said next. It's not in your head, it's all in the body...hence: listen with your blood.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I bring my culinary skills to the kitchens of my hosts. I love to cook and leave a bottle of Australian wine (if I can find it) on their counter or yummy leftovers in their fridges.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have participated in this brilliant thing by surfing on only two couches. The rest has been "coffee and chats" which has brought upon priceless connections. I've made some great friends and I'm excited to catch up again to hang out. I had intentions in hosting back in Melbourne Australia but since coming back I've been so busy wrapping up the share-house I've lived in for 4 and a half years. A sad end to a big chapter in my life. Now there's a new chapter...and it will begin the moment I step off the plane at JFK. Looking to surf again and to offer food, flowers and friendship to my new hosts :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many books, so I will list the books I have read recently: this is embarrassing to admit this guilty pleasure, but I got hooked on the "Twilight" series by Stephanie Meyer. For the love of God, I've regressed into a teenager and have gone all lovey dovey over vampires. Bare with me please...this obsession shall pass!

Too many films to choose from so I will list the films I have enjoyed recently: Let the Right One In (Swedish vampire film -artfully done, best vampire film ever). Sir David Attenborough strutting his stuff in his nature documentaries. Gandhi (an old film but I forgot how bloody brilliant it is!)

All kinds of music, so the music I have been enjoying recently: Jimmy Scott, Antony and the Johnsons, Bjork, Bonnie Prince Billy, Royksopp, Adele, Imogen Heap.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Back in my hood, I saw the most amazing thing, I saw a bike rider, riding through peak hour traffic on Sydney Road with no helmet, no hands -chroming at the same time.
Then a few moments later, a little white Datsun thumping out Missy Elliot and inside is a 14 year old kid driving with his kid sister wearing a burka slamming their heads to the beat. Whoa...welcome to Brunswick!

Teach, Learn, Share

In this crazy busy world that we live in, time is a precious thing. But I've observed, if done mindfully and with a calm center right here in your gut. The surfer and the host just have to give a moment of their time, look into each others eyes and I promise you -2 minutes tops -both will start laughing, and it is right there in that instant: a friendship begins.
