About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live life well, To make friends, To learn.

ABOUT ME

Simone is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Mario is from Miami. Our daughter Samantha was born in Atlanta, where our family has lived for the past 13 years. We like to spend time sightseeing, even in our own town. We love to attend local fairs and festivals (arts, antiques, harvest, music, old fashion carnivals) in our area and can take you with us if you are so inclined. It gives us a sense of living in a small community even though Atlanta is a major metropolitan area. We volunteer at least 40 hours a year at different places each year because we think it is a fun way help out and meet people. We know all of our neighbors (nowadays it seems few people do). We are good listeners. We love to travel but we slowed down since the birth of our daughter. We don't smoke and are not heavy drinkers, but enjoy a glass of wine with friends.

PHILOSOPHY

Live a happy, balanced, healthy life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We moderate a group (Families with Preschoolers).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We surfed and would love to host. We met a surfer who lives nearby and became friends.

Interests

We like music, arts, cooking, spending time outdoors, meeting new people. We love spending time near water (like the ocean, rivers, lakes). We were both born in coastal cities and now live close to a river.

Music, Movies, and Books

Slum Dog Millionaire, Forrest Gump (we like the historical references, the sound track and the story), Match Point (well written, every line has a purpose in the narrative). Something About Mary (the funniest movie I've ever watched, although I could NOT watch it over and over). One book I like is The Alchemist, a fable by Paulo Coelho about the pursuit of dreams.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mario: There are amazing events all around us. We just need to pay attention to them. Simone: spent 4 years as a child living in the Amazon rain forest. Both: We had a child quite by chance after 12 years of marriage and being told we probably would not be able to conceive.

Countries I’ve Visited
