About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to create something beautiful and destroy something evil

ABOUT ME

Born and raised Texan. These are a few of my favorite things: traveling, spicy food, reading, wine, live music, science, my dogs Leila and Annie, art, drinking whiskey on a cold night, the Texas hillcountry, fishing, hiking, photography, sports, and 80's creature feature movies.

PHILOSOPHY

You live once, but if you live right.. once is enough.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you...

Cuando no deseo nada, tengo todo

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I surf as much as I can...I host whenever I can depending on if my work schedule allows it. If I can't host people, I always try to respond to those interested in visiting Austin or anywhere in Texas to tell them where to go and what they can do in order to have a great time

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing is an amazing community and restores my faith in humanity by unifying countries. I'm all for it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: favorite directors include Tim Burton, Steven Spielberg,Pedro Almodóvar, Quentin Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Luc Besson, and the Cohen Brothers.

Music: oldies, metal, hip hop, old country, blues, punk, and various composers who score films.

My favorite authors are Chuck Palahniuk, Stephen King, Cheryl Strayed, Kurt Vonnegut, Aldous Huxley, Vladamir Nabokov, Clive Barker, and Ray Bradbury. I try to read at least 40 books a year and I'm an avid member on GoodReads. I love sci-fi, dystopia, horror, history, science, memoirs, and business related books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 15, my mom came into my bedroom and told me to pack a bag and that we were leaving in 45 minutes. We proceeded to spend 2 months that summer road tripping through 15 states in the US. I've been an adventurous traveler ever since.

-Hand fed monkeys in the back of a Costa Rican restaurant
-Shook Stephen King's hand at a book signing
-Saw the sunrise on top of Cadillac Mountain which is the first place in the US to see sunlight
-Jumped off the southern most point in the US while visiting friends in Hawaii
-Zip lined through the Costa Rican rainforest
-Witnessed Barcelona beat Manchester United for the 2009 UEFA Championship while I was backpacking in Spain
-Shared a kiss under the Eiffel Tower
-Spent the night in the hotel that inspired The Shining
-Traveled to Kyiv, Ukraine in 2015 and witnessed the aftermath of the political uprisings
-Walked across a frozen lake in the Canadian Rockies

I mean, I can say all of my travels both domestic and abroad have been amazing one way or another so I guess it is difficult for me to narrow down to just one experience. I've enjoyed meeting all of my friends that I've surfed with on Couchsurfing and still keep in touch with them years later.
