ABOUT ME

Me- 28 yr old down to earth female. Am a gracious guest and happy hostess. I love to travel, meet new people, and have as many new experiences as possible.

PHILOSOPHY

At a point in my path where I am realizing a few key elelments: Fear is an incredible detour, yet also serves as a huge teaching tool. Love is quite the same. Realizing the difference between the two is the challenge, and a fucking good test.
Graditiude is numero uno essential. When all else fails just say "thank you." YOu can never say it enough.
Try your best not to forget.
i'm a nostalgia addict. i focus alot on remembering. everything. i believe our wisdom lies here. i believe we know alot more than we give ourselves credit for- its just a matter of finding those clots of potential in that massive brain (and soul) we tend to neglect so often.
details are extremely important, especially in art and beauty. i'm a sucker for genuine craftmanship and things made by hand...like muppets and quilts and chalk drawings on the sidewalk...right now my focus is mostly documentary photography, ceramic sculpture and illustration. i also care for reading and writing and singing and dancing, amoung a multitude of other ever-changing interests and hobbies.
i take care of other people's children for a living which results in an endless supply of stories and shenanagens...i'm a bad speller but a damn good kisser. i like making weird loud noises at random moments.
Alchemy is my main trade. Not turning rocks into physical gold, but rather working on myself through my own actions and thoughts, loving my enemies while learning through my dramas, being thankful every moment, adjusting my eyes to (try and) see through illusions, exploring the mysteries of the universe, of relationships, of strangers, of myself.
Trying to accept and work with change...blossom with it, wither away with it, crumble and die with it, knowing i'll be planted and go thru the spirals again, holding a little bit more under my belt if i'm lucky.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in San Francisco and am a fabulous tour guide if needed. I have a living room with a sofa bed and love to make my guests comfortable. Am very open to any arrangement as long as respect is given, and smiles are offered :) I love to travel and would love to meet some new people. I hate the solitude of hotels and would much rather be in the mix of things meeting real locals and if wanted- can cook up an amazing meal for my hosts!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

PLEASE READ! So far my couchsurfing experience has been great- for the most part I think its the best thing since sliced bread. Unfortunately I did have one bad experience with a guy in Dublin who was slightly aggressive with his flirtatiousness and made me quite uncomfotable...I ended up staying in a hostel because I just didn't feel right at his place. After much thought, I felt it was important for me to warn other single women travlers of my experience. Of course, due to this, "celtic superfly" turned me into a villan- Instead of just apoligizing for putting me in a vunerable position, he instead decided to taint my name and references by calling me a psycho-denying everything, namecalling, and talking nonsense about my husband who he's never even met. So instead of getting angry I just ask myself, Why can't people just own up to their actions? It's a shame and I hope it only makes me a wiser traveler. Besides that, I think couchsurfing is an amazing oppertunity to not only travel the world without being an isolated tourist- but also a great way to meet amazing and interesting people from all over the globe.

MUSIC: a bit o this and that: stuff my hippy parents listened to....ic rock and oldies, reggae/dancehall, tiki/exotica, folk, anything classic that I can sing to, fem emo vox, and anything I can ice skate or do interpretive dance to. some names off the top of my head...nothing to make me sound cool-just stuff that i cry to; rufus wainwright, jeff buckley, ani difranco, andy stochansky, nick drake, pete yorn, mason jennings, gilian welch, joni mitchel, ella, billy, nina, sarah, chet baker, supergrass, van morrison, cat stevens, bob marley, sam cook, solomon dorsey, lakecia benjamin, laura izibor, random bluegrass (BANJOS SHAKE MY SOUL), that harmonica music off amelie, and other stuff that escapes me when asked.
i have a tough time with names, but when i hear something and like it, i'll definitely let you know.

all audrey films. all baz lurman films. all tom twyker films. all films by that french guy who did amalie. movies that invoke imagination and take honest and detailed hands-on work; a good example is jim henson's classics like Labrynth and Dark Crystal-he was a fucking visionary, and he understood the universe more than most take time to realize

Best travel was in East Africa in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania-working with orphans- then over to Zanzibar for the most amazingly beautiful hang ever
