About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To bring good things into the world through the exchange of art and ideas. To take the time to notice the beauty in life and particuarly in the small or seemingly insignificant details. singing dancing and laughing

ABOUT ME

I am passionately interested in the world around me! I am a very positive self-motivated person and i am interested in other people. I have left-wing politics and am excited by exchanging ideas with others, especially about art, politics, philosophy, literature, music. I am an artist, mostly i work in sculpture but i also draw comics and am a printmaker. I love music (play a few instuments), walking in the countryside, bike-riding, gardening, cooking (my friends say i'm a great cook!),anything to do with the sea or lakes and boats (i sail a bit). I am handy with tools (being a sculptor and builder)and happy to help out on small projects. I love to laugh, enjoy the company of children and am very patient.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live my life very consciously, with an awareness of my impact on others and the world around me. I try to actively bring good things into the world and assist others to make the most of their lives too. I'm an optimistic, positive, non-judgemental and generous person.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to couchsurfing, but have greatly valued the generosity of others during my travels in the past. Icannot offer a bed at present because my flat is tiny and i share it with others. However, i am happy to meet fellow travellers who would like to explore my city and the surrounding countryside.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

When i was in the UK i stayed briefly with friends of friends and became involved in a community project helping to restore a historical property in their town. This was a very rewarding experience.

Interests

Everything! (except perhaps organised sport) Music (folk, blues, jazz, latin, gypsy), cinema (arthouse), reading, art, food and cooking, the environment, gardening, architecture, design, politics, philosophy, walking in the countryside, sailing, surfing, snorkelling, thinking!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love the films of Pedro Almodovar, the graphic novels of Joe Sacco, Marjane Satrapi and Johann Sfarr, i read widely and love Orhan Pamuk, Amin Malouf, Jose Saramago, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Louis de Bernieres, Angela Carter, Christa Wolf, Vikram Seth. Music: folk, jazz, blues, latin, gypsy, world, afro funk...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been surfing with dolphins, taught and learned from aboriginal children in central Australia, taught refugee children to read. I've also eaten honey ants and gone goanna hunting with aboriginal elders in the Gibson Desert.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach/share: puppetmaking, printmaking,english language skills.

I can: sew, swim, sail a bit, help with building, cook, do gardening.

I'd love to learn to play the fiddle and sail better.
