About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travelling Australia on a shoestring, meeting as many interesting people as possible, learning as much as I can and seeing everything...

ABOUT ME

I'm 28 years old, from the UK, in Australia since Nov' 08, hoping to see as much of the place as possible before my cash runs out. I'll probably have to go home at some point in the future but the travel bug has bitten me deep and I don't think I'll be staying long.
I'm 6ft tall, blondish, tattooed and unkempt (but in a clean way).

PHILOSOPHY

This is getting deep now...
I'm very skeptical, I have no religion and don't believe in supernatural stuff but I don't go around antagonising spiritual people on purpose. I enjoy having my beliefs challenged and am fascinated by other people's.
I enjoy meeting people and new places. I've found that almost any subject can become incredibly interesting if you take the time to think about it a little. I have the occasional fit of joie-de-vivre and do something really weird... like the nudist thing...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm travelling at the moment so all I can offer is my presence (lucky you).
I'm willing to make my routine fit yours and help out where I can. I'm hoping to meet some fun people with some real enthusiasm for the area. I enjoy a quiet drink in or out and the occasional loud one...
I'm not a freeloader and am more than willing to help out around the house, get some provisions in, or help with the cooking, etc. (I'm not a great cook but I enjoy learning new skills).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm still pretty new to this and I tend to leave things to the last minute , which doesn't help. All my couchsurfing experiences so far have been positive, whether its staying with hosts or meeting other surfers on my travels.

Interests

Pretty much everything, no topic of conversation is out of bounds and I'm always up for an argument/debate, the way I see it, everytime you're proven wrong, you learn something. I'm not especially into sports but other people's enthusiasm tends to rub off on me. Always willing to see or learn something new, I tend to become fascinated by the things most people don't care much about.
Recently into fitness. When I feel like it.
I love wildlife, natural and man-made beauty, the ocean, the city, the outback sky...
I'm trying to learn a bit of French.
Trying to expand the range of my knowledge- I always get the feeling I'm missing out when I realise I don't know about something.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading, I can devour a good book.
I like sci-fi, fantasy, horror, biographies, thrillers- escapist stuff really but I'm also trying to expand my preferences.
I'm not really into pop but I can listen to almost any music (except the bagpipes or manufactured pop). I especially like rock, indie, and classic rock (I inherited a lot of my Dad's tastes).
My favourite movies include Amelie, Dogma and Alien3 which should tell you something about me...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Outback stars, creeks in flood, Queensland skies, lizards, kangaroos... this whole country is amazing.
The 5 weeks I spent at a nudist retreat on the Sunshine Coast is probably the weirdest time I've had over here.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to learn a little bit about everything. I have a background in electrical work and general building. I like to think of myself as 'widely read'.
Obviously the UK is where most of my life experiences have been based.
