Overview
About Me
I'm a Canadian who's just relocated to the UK with my partner Ian (that's him in my picture). We are fun-loving, open minded and caring people who would love to meet anyone who comes to our little corner of England, either to host or to meet up for a pint.
My goal is to hear as many stories from as many people as possible.
I will try anything at least once. Life is about taking risks!
I try to learn from every encounter I have. So many people come and go from our lives, I try to find meaning in each connection. I don't know what I want to be when I grow up, but I know I don't want it to be mediocre. I believe in Global Community. Go back far enough in the family tree, and we're all cousins.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been a member for years and I talk a lot about what a beautiful and transformative experience this can be. I love connecting with strangers and hearing stories. I usually describe the people on couch surfing as friends I haven't met yet.
We've just moved to the UK and would love to share our new home with guests! I haven't been active on here for some time and I'm excited to dive back in.
Interests
Travel obsessed geography nerd. Music is the backdrop of my life. I sing and play the ukulele and a few other instruments.
I fancy myself a gardener, but I really can't be left responsible for things that die silently.
I love knitting, and just any form of creativity. I think it's important to preserve old knowledge and skills.
If I was independently wealthy I would be a professional volunteer for the rest of my life. I'm not, so I go where I can and help as much as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books
I tend to like quirky clever movies best. My favourite director is Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, Rushmore). I like horror movies too but I can't watch them alone cause they scare the bejeezus out of me.
Having music to listen to is more important to me than food to eat. I try to be very open minded, I love almost everything, but especially alt rock. Say Hi To Your Mom, Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend, Arcade Fire, Bedouin Soundclash, Cat Stevens, The Black Keys, Bon Iver, Deer Tick, The Dudes, The Flaming Lips... the list goes on...
I compulsively collect books the way magpies hoard shiny shiny trinkets. I'm currently working my way through a large list of "books everyone should read." There are too many that I love to mention but the tops right now are Nail Gaiman and George Orwell (I have a THING for dystopias).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
How to pick just one!?
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you to knit or crochet, how to be awesome at Super Mario Kart, how to cook some delicious things. I can teach you the art of the false moustache. I'm no master but I can teach you the basics of meditation. I also have a very amateur love of astronomy. I can also give you ukulele lessons.
I want to learn how to tan leather and fix cars. I also want to learn how to start a microbrewery. I have a didgeridoo and so far can only make really loud sounds with it. If anyone could give me a lesson on how to actually play it that would be the awesomest.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I will wash your dishes and serenade you on the ukulele.
