About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel around the world - and take the kids

ABOUT ME

We are a family of four: Hans, Carola and our children Andreas (19) und Thomas (9). And we have adventurous ideas how we travel. And we live these ideas, like nomads for a while (NOMADEN AUF ZEIT). Two years ago we came back from two years traveling the world.

In August 2008 we started traveling when possible on land. On this trip we visited several countrys in Europe and in Asia: Turkey, Iran, United Arab Emirates, India, Pakistan, China. Then we spend time in Canada, USA, Central America, South America, Africa and now Europe. For transportation we used: walking (600 km in Europe, 1000 km in Canada) cycling (1600 km in Eastern Europe), bus, train, plane, car, ship and canoe.

PHILOSOPHY

The secret of freedom is courage.

We cannot direct the wind, but we can adjust the sails.
-Captain Amyr Klink

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.
- Albert Einstein

Getting lost is not a waste of time.
- Jack Johnson

There will never be a good time, so do it now. Live life to the fullest, inspire others to do the same and become students of the whole world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In the moment all is so different from our nomadic life. We started working, school, kindergarten.

We had a great time surfing around the world, in 17 countries on 34 couches! Now back in Germany we would like to host, for sure to give back the awesome hospitality we could enjoy. And to meet you the traveller.

We would like to meet you. In Dortmund, where I'm every day for work. And in Lünen-Brambauer, where we live.

And we like to spread the idea of couchsurfing around the world. And now to all the people we tell our traveling storys.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

On the train from Turkey to Iran, a young french traveler, told us about couchsurfing. In Pakistan we tryed it first. Since then we couchsurfed in China, Canada, USA, Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina, South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, Kenya, Italy and Germany. We couchsurfed more then 30 times.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We sailed around the world. In a small boat (6,5 m / 21 ft) with our son Andreas, from 2000 to 2003. Our longest passage on the ocean, without seeing any land, was 30 days (in the Pacific).
And Hans wrote a book about that.
