About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To escape my North Carolinian oppressors

ABOUT ME

I've been told that I'm overly modest, so I'm not so sure how this is going to work out. I have a ridiculous sense of humor, so much so that sometimes it's anti-humor. I'm constantly binge learning, trying to gain as much of an understanding of my perception as possible. I cherish my friends. I enjoy understatements and music. And categorizing things strangely. I play trumpet, keyboard and am learning the ropes of computer generated synths. I have a 5 string bass that I fool around with and I always enjoy singing.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is an ever-evolving beast that tucks me in, makes my breakfast and shines my shoes. That metaphor may be insane, but it's kind of my point. Not that I'm insane, or anything. It seems to me that I may never understand life, religion or anything for that matter, so I keep my mind open wide, enjoy the day and see what happens. I often feel like I'm recording a documentary about the universe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm very new to this concept. I've never been on a couch surfing expedition, but I look forward to it soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'll let you know.

Interests

I consider myself to be a musician, a critic, a writer, a comedian, a visionary and a future superhero. Somehow I don't get paid for any of those titles, though. I am constantly in pursuit of any entertaining way to express an idea or reflect my personality. It's truly ineffable how much I enjoy creating and listening to music. I could rant for days about music, art and life. Which ties in nicely with the next paragraph...

Music, Movies, and Books

This is quite a topic.
Music: There's a time and a place for everything. I avoid Pop, but understand that it is popular for good reason. Classical is always a good choice. Cliche rock annoys me but is a necessary evil. Country and Rap? Alright, why not? I mostly go for anything that strikes my core, invokes thought or catches my ear.

Here are a few groups that don't define my palette, but I couldn't live without:
Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age, She & Him, Deerhoof, Eagles of Death Metal, Radiohead.

Movies: I worked at a movie theater for three years. I love them and quite frankly, thinking about awesome music has already exhausted me. I'm easy to please when it comes to movies.

Books: Just finished a Vonnegut book, Slaughterhouse Five, and it was awesome. Dave Barry's novels are entertaining. But Chuck Palahniuk takes the cake as my favorite author.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I really can't name just one thing. I see so much beauty in everything, the amazing things just blend in. I've camped on an island of wild horses with my family. I've taped my best friend to a wall. I've seen great blue herons catch fish in my front yard. I've blown mine and a friend's eyebrows off with liquid nitrogen. Every moment is my favorite.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an open book. Just ask.
