About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Keep walking that line

ABOUT ME

Love wild places, good food and friendly people. Drove to Mongolia a few years ago in a 2CV with a friend. Did an epic Pan-European motorbike trip on my 125 in 2010 too. Looking forward to another road trip soon, maybe up the Dempster. Had been living in Victoria building up a stonemasonry businesses with my brother but I'm back in UK now for an unknown period.

PHILOSOPHY

Jokes can say a lot.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Did loads of CS things in Victoria, hosted a few people but couldn't do as much as I liked as my house was unsuitable. Made loads of friends in Vic through CS though and invited lots of traveller out for drinks and offered my advice on the area. Made many friends in Graz when I lived in Austria through Couch Surfing. I try and Couchsurf whenever I travel and always look to the CS community when I move to a new place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Slept on the floor for the best part of a year at friends houses', at my brother's and on the Eurasian Steppe. Know how to keep myself tidy and out the way most of the time and can also cook vegi and meet dishes, entertain and listen.

Interests

No shortage. Travel and cultural history are most important to me. Also being silly and causing a fuss.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love films, my favourites are two British classics - 'Withnail & I' and 'Sexy Beast'. Music is personal, think its worth searching for the good stuff. Love travel books, favourite authors are Robert Byron, Patrick Leigh Femour & Colin Thubron.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The night sky in Krygyzstan.
Standing over a sea of inverted clouds on Helvellyn.
Swimming in the Canadian Pacific in May.
Being taken in by a Mongolian family and sharing their Yurt and meals for a week.

Teach, Learn, Share

Good practical skills, cooking, particularly baking. Also have building experience. If you need to learn them I probably have something I could teach you about photoshop, indesign, archicad etc. but really I'd rather make bread go for a walk, build a house or get drunk with you.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Morocco, Netherlands, Romania, Russian Federation, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine

Countries I’ve Lived In

Austria, Canada, United Kingdom
