ABOUT ME

As most of the guys here assembled in the CouchSurfing community I guess I'm pretty open-minded and very inquisitive. I like to experience this world, her different cultures and individuals with their lives, customs, stories and philosophies.

I studied History, Religion Studies and Political Science at the Humboldt-University in Berlin and at the University of Zurich. At the moment I am writing about intercultural contacts, religious identities and their construction as well as commemorative culture, conceptions of history and their reception during the transition from 18th to 19th century. Besides I'm employed at the University of Berne and from time to time, for sentimental reasons and because I like the smell of roasted coffee, freshly drawn beer and mixed liquors I work as a bartender in Zurich downtown.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I grew up in an environment where hospitality and openness were quite common. So you are very welcome to surf my couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I joined the CouchSurfing Community when I lived in Berlin. There I hosted Zack from Jordan, Pascal from Switzerland, visited Nicholas in Copenhagen and Andreas in Graz. That was numerically not really a gargantuan experiment, but qualitatively a great pleasure. Some months ago I have relocated to Zurich. Since then I hosted Bettina and Justine from Germany, with whom I spent some very funny days.
So far I had not only one bad experience with CouchSurfing. If you're not willed to change that balance and if I might have time to host you, my little flat will be yours.

Centres d'intérêt

Hmmm. I struggle with close containments and labels. I often fail to focus on a specific spot. Hence I tend to extravagate. However I try to focus on two fields: My social environment and my studies. Apart from that I'm organizing a little, marvellous open air culture festival (festival des arcs), which is absolutely worth visiting if you might enjoy alternative forms of culture and if you should ever travel to Switzerland in June.

Generally I'm as comfortable in the alternative cultural milieu, in a flashy shrill bugged out party or in the noble and distinguished ambience of an opera. I like to eat, drink, cook, read, palaver, being with friends, visit the theatre, listen to music, join parties, dance, inhale the ambience of a city in the interim of sleeping and waking up, hike in the mountains to escape from the Moloch of civilization, return to the Moloch of civilization, sleep, dream.
