About Me

CURRENT MISSION

meet interesting people, open up my mind, talk, laugh, learn and share, and discover more of this beautiful earth. Right now special focus on Africa

ABOUT ME

Love to travel, meet and talk to people, hear different views and opinions and broaden my horizon. I love making music though I am afraid I can't play anything very well, but at least I am trying :)

I am an optimist and maybe a bit naive but open-hearted and I love life and believe in that everybody can do his bit to make this place a little bit brighter.
There are so many interesting things to see and do in this world, 24 hours a day is just not enough for all the things I would like to do :) Always eager to learn and try something new.
Hungry for life, definitely ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Great way to meet people from all over the world, learn and share and have fun, getting personal insights into places I am just starting to discover, paying it forward to help create to the society I want to live in.

Interests

Play Beachvolleyball (addicted!), dancing , running, travelling, making and listening to music, discussing politics and economics, entrepreneurship, social business ventures, meeting friends and getting to know people from different countries, foreign languages, ....

Books: Prosperity without Growth, The Upcycle, Poor Economics, Dead Aid, The white man's burden, I never promised you a rosegarden, Volker Kutscher novels on Berlin in the 20ies, books by Irvin Yalom, by Henning Mankell, a lot of Latin American literature, Ken Follet (NOT pillars of the earth ;)), Wolfgang Schorlau ....in general I like books with political, economical, societal and historical background.

Movies: Made in Africa, And then the Rain, Nueve Reinas, Good Will Hunting, Dead Poet's society, Knocking on Heaven's Door, Scent of a Woman, As Good as it Gets, A Beautiful Mind, About Schmidt, A Good Year, Les Choristes.....The Emperor's new Groove, Mary Poppins ... You're never to old to watch these films ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am always amazed how often when you travel you meet people who are friendly and help you without any reasons. I think it is a great moment whenever you meet a person who just does something for others without any second thought.

Travelling to the Iguazú Waterfalls in Argentina.

Driving on a bus through Africa with 40 crazy people trying to build IT startups... and nothing goes according to plan ;)

Hiking through the endless space of Bolivia's landscape where there is just no sign of civilisation; lying down on the floor and just listen to the absolute silence

Hiking in the Himalaya in Nepal, travelling off the tourist routes with the family of my Nepalese brother-in-law

Playing samba with 150 international drummers accompanied by 100 dancers in the parades of Berlin's Carnival of Cultures

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always eager to learn more about anything and the whole world. A wise person once said don't just ask predefined questions because then you will get a predefined answer and you miss out learning about the amazing things you would have never dreamed asking about.
