About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Make art and music and travel
ABOUT ME
Im 35 years old, grew up in Ohio, but now live in Portland, OR. I also lived in New York City for 6 years.
Im an artist (drawing mostly, some painting, some sculpture), a musician - I play guitar decently, and a lot of other instruments badly. I have some drawings online- check them out at www.joshuabrentneal.com. Im also a freelance film sound mixer in the film/television world. I love the work a great deal although it does tend to burn me out during the peak summer months.
Ive been traveling as long as I was old enough to leave home. I've been all up and down the east coast extensively, the southwest, the midwest. Lots of camping, concerts, skydiving, etc. My world travels include- India and Nepal, all through Central America and part of South America.
PHILOSOPHY
I practice Buddhism with closest ties to Nichiren Buddhism and Shambhala. I enjoy chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo as well as silent meditation. I believe in compassion and gratitude and pursuing excellence in your own way.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I can offer my couch in Portland, OR from time to time, although my freelance work schedule is very hectic, so its hard sometimes. But I can almost always be available (Assuming Im not working) to show someone around Portland.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Hosted some surfers back when I lived in NYC, went to some events in Buenos Aires, & currently exploring the Portland couchsurfing community.

Music, Movies, and Books
Love indie films, love electronic music and all sorts of rock, & read a lot of self-help books, haha.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hiked part of the Annapurna circuit in Nepal... the most beautiful scenery I have ever traveled. Been out of my mind at some of the most amazing powerful shows and music festivals that make you feel in touch with something collective and beautiful!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can draw pretty well, and would be happy to teach anyone some basics. I also know a lot about film production especially location sound. I would love to play with other musicians as well.
