About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To try to understand people. Possibly unachievable, but ambition is good.

ABOUT ME

I'm a happy person. I smile a lot and will enthusiastically recount many a narrative and story to anyone who cares to listen. I like to listen to other people enthusiastically recount stories too, I love a good story swapping session. Stories aside, I try to throw myself into everything that comes my way, I love creating projects that involve all kinds of people and activities. I dance like a madman (so I'm told) and I love life.

PHILOSOPHY

Smile and the Universe smiles with you

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've had quite a few people to stay at the London abode (to my mother's bemusement). Had plenty to stay in the Liverpool dwelling. Been on my fair share of couches, mattresses, bathtubs et al.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Been on this for some years now, and whilst I haven't used it as much as I have liked to, the times that I did fostered some truly weird and wonderful outcomes. I'm looking forward to getting back to the UK and lending my couch for a few more travellers to lay their weary bums upon.

Interests

I'm generally interested. I love reading everything and archiving things (weird obsession I have with trying to remember everything and everyone) - I try my hand at writing now and again and again; I'm interested in photography so am never without camera. I like to walk and walk until my soles are worn through. I have a great interest in eating - I will try anything, I love and appreciate food to great extents.

Music, Movies, and Books

Sexing the Cherry by Jeanette Winterson, The Master & Margharita (Generally I fan of Bulgakov's writing), Of Mice and Men, 100 Years of Solitude, Perfume, Laurie Lee's As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning: These stand out in my head but there are hundreds more books that I can't remember. My favourite films off the top of my head are Cinema Paradiso, Shawshank Redemption, and The Lives of Others. I'm open to most music, I often go to live music events for things like jazz, reggae and blues, acoustic and the odd drum n bass, dub night. Everything sounds better in the flesh!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have taught a small group of street children in Mexico City how to use a professional camera and have made an exhibition of their work here. That was pretty amazing. I mean really, with my organisation (or lack of), it truly was.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have much to learn and welcome new lessons with open arms. What I can teach depends on the person I'm with!
