About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to get back on the road
ABOUT ME
I try to move to the beat of my own drum. Graduated college early in December '08 from Syracuse University, had one of those bs job for a few months, got fed up with a lot of things and up and hit the road traveling all around the US for 6 months by both bike and car alike, moved to France for almost a year as an English teacher/traveler, just got back this summer, and now I'm moving to Austin, TX in hopes of joining the music scene down there. Most of my time is spent either enjoying the moment or avoiding things that prohibit me from doing so.
PHILOSOPHY
my "personal philosophy" changes by the day, but generally try to stick to happy thoughts.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have surfed many people's couches in the past. My best experiences were in the US, but have also done it all over Europe. I also used to attend a lot of cs events and try to host whenever I can. I try to participate whenever the moment feels right. I don't just do it 'just because.' i do it because i think me and such a person might really enjoy each other's company and perhaps even benefit.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Couchsurfing has been great to me so far. I have met some of the most interesting people of my life and some who I intend to stay in contact for years to come.
Interests
I wouldn't really say there is any one interest that defines me. I love the great outdoors (hiking, biking, running, sports of all kinds (playing rather than spectating mostly), swimming etc.) and the advantages of cultural city life. Cooking is an obsession and music is unavoidable. Thought provoking experiences are always on my radar.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I love anything from serious, philosophic films to a good hearted comedy and everything else in between. Some of my favorite movies include (in no particular order) Forest Gump, American Psycho, American Beauty, My Blue Heaven, I'm Not There, Oh Brother. Where Art Thou?, most Woody Allen and Scorcese movies, etc.
Music: Some of my favorites include Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Jay-Z, the Beatles, Johnny Cash, Cake, Kanye West, Regina Spektor, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Simon & Garfunkel, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Bach, Beethoven, Wagner, Tom Waits, Ella Fitzgerald, Billy Holliday, Nat King Cole, everything really etc. I could go on and on. There isn't one style that I prefer. I like them all for the most part.
Books: lots of things, Salinger, Kerouac, Neil Gaiman, Katherine Norris, Ken Kasey, Marcel Pagnol, ahh I'm having a brain fart here ... Ginsberg. I don't know really there's no specific genre I like. If I don't like a book I generally stop reading it.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have had the great pleasure of doing a lot of traveling in my day so it is hard to chose one over another, but if I had to I would probably say my trip to Uganda. I went with a medical mission team for three weeks and traveled around the country setting up clinic from village to village as an acting pharmacist. I made some friends that I will have for a while and have a life time of memories and stories.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to learn any foreign language that I can. My french is decent, but German and Spanish could be much better. I'm a pretty decent cook, but have yet to learn the craft of baking.
