About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Show my son the world!

ABOUT ME

I'm a 35 year old attorney who spent 10 years in the recording industry. Recently divorced, I have custody of my son and am living out the fantasy of raising my boy on my own and showing him the world. We've seen much of the US together, but it's time for us to start getting out overseas.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I should let people know that, even though my son and I share a small one-bedroom apartment, and even though I'm older than the average surfer, we get roughly five couch surfing requests per day. Obviously I cannot host all of them. Not only that, but since we let the surfers take over my son's room and he sleeps with me, I try to give time between guests so that he can enjoy his room for a while.

I just thought that potential surfers should be aware of what they are up against. It's the thick of travel season, apparently. I try to give a courteous reply to everybody in a timely fashion, but please be aware of the situation.

In light of all that, please feel free to ask. We have enjoyed the guests that we've had thus far. The ideal surfer for us will probably be:

Foreign (since the whole idea was to get a little culture into our house)
Not interested in the late night scene in New York (since there is an eight-year old here)
Only looking in the next few days or couple of weeks, since it is hard for me to schedule my life too far down the road.

If that is you and you can give a compelling story that tugs at my heart, please feel free to throw in a request.

Best of luck!

Music, Movies, and Books

I've been reading mostly about the global politic as of late, mixed with the Omnivore's Dilemma and comparable books.

As for music, I spent 10 years in the recording industry and now listen to public news radio most frequently. I have a large ipod full of a menagerie of tunes from a variety of genres.

Cinema: Gandhi, Usual Suspects, Red Violin, Departed, Slumdog, Princess Bride, etc. My son and I see a lot of movies - mostly nonfiction, though. We catch a fair number of documentaries together.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've built and slept in my own igloo? I authored a textbook? I once (foolishly) ran in a marathon? I'm not sure what all is considered "amazing" amongst this crowd of people. It seems that everyone here is pretty amazing.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, France, India, Mexico, Netherlands, South Korea

Countries I’ve Lived In
