About Me
ABOUT ME
Hi there!
I'm Mie ['Mi-É]. I study Russian language, culture and intellectual history in various places, currently in England. However, I'm not just into Russia(n), I generally like soaking up languages like gummy bears soak up vodka. I enjoy traveling almost as passionately as I hate the occasionally required visa procedures. I'm good at listening and asking questions, so eventually you will probably have to stop me.
I have a weird and obscure need to see Central Asia, eventually, something which studying Russian doesn't necessarily exclude. Luckily. I assume it's the idea of wild horses and barren landscapes that has yet to be replaced with an image of radioactive villages and post-soviet dictatorships.
In general I am down to earth and easy-going, I love meeting new people and seeing new places, but I also like to stay somewhere for a more extended period of time to take in more of one place, rather than little of many places. I don't smoke, I don't carry around pets, I have been told I laugh in my sleep, but apart from that I think I am a pretty safe bet for a couch surfer.
PHILOSOPHY
Trust - but caffeinate!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I started out by hosting couch surfers when I was living with some friends in Saint Petersburg, who introduced me to the concept. I have couch surfed little myself but hosted people in various places on many occasions. I enjoy meeting new people and staying with someone or hosting them provides a much better insight into a given culture, than just having an impersonal hotel room somewhere.
Interests
Advanced bread-baking and coffee-making, nerdy language learning, horseback riding, book-reading, shower-singing and/or dancing, and other things that I'm not necessarily particularly good at, but that may be done pretty much no matter the location!
