About Me
“Look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see, and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious.” - Stephen Hawking
I'm a lacrosse player, coffee addict, book lover and traveler. But far the most I'm just a simple human being trying to stay curiuos in this world. So far it's taken my to pretty amazing places. From working as an assistant manager at a café in Oslo, to embracing wilderness in the remote countryside of Iceland, to volunteering as photographer in Serbia, learning Italian in Rome and much more.
In 2016 I took a leap of faith and quit my job as a Research Assistant to fulfill a long life dream. I traveled to New Zealand and Australia and did a 4 month long backpacking trip. During this trip I couchsurfed in the most amazing places, little villages on the New Zealand country side, Wellington and a cattle farm in north of Australia. My travel blog from New Zealand/Australia: www.sarapersson.wix.com/runawayswede
Couchsurfing also brought me love. In 2015, I got in contact with a fellow Couchsurfer and an American guy visiting my hometown. He turned out to be my soulmate. We are now married and live together in Atlanta, GA. Life is truly amazing. In Atlanta I work as the Executive Director for a non-profit organization. Me and my husband enjoys cooking, watching series, exploring new restaurants and good wine and conversations.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me Couchsurfing is not just a way of traveling - it's a lifestyle. Being open to new experinces and people has made my life more interesting than I ever could imagined. I love learning more about different cultures and sharing my own. It gives me perspectives and greater tolerance for differences.
