About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Currently, we have been driving 10000 km in India since September 2022, but before we have been living and travelling in a self converted Citroen Jumper for the past two years. We went around Europe, Scandinavia, Balkan countries, Turkey Georgia, Armenia and Iran.

2018 was the year to pick up our backpacks and start out travelling in South and Central America with the aim of long term, sustainable traveling. We made it to Ushuaya on a motorbike (!!) Of our 14 months we did 7 months on a motorbike.

If you are interested in where we are with our plan, look us up on https://www.facebook.com/planpacktravelrepeat.blog/ or on Instagram, planpacktravelrepeat.blog
If you want to host us/hang out send us a message, we would be glad to spend some time with fellow travel enthusiasts.

ABOUT ME

We are a couple originally from Hungary but we had lived in Scotland for 10 years or so, and in 2013 after a two month road trip around the USA we decided to settle in Florida where we lived the 'american dream' for some years. However, through all these years we had one dream: to travel the World with no set end date. As you may guess, we had spent many of the last years preparing for our multi year and multi continent travels that we had started in 2017 and we are still going.
We are quite different, but in an complimentary way. (check out our interests.. :-)
.

PHILOSOPHY

Gyuri: If you want something, the only barrier is not having the will to go and make it happen...
******************************************************
Marta: Live life full of love, curiosity, compassion and humour.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Over the years we hosted and surfed in many places, hang out with poeple, went to potlucks, cook outs, language exchanges.. you name it.. We have been active members of the community since we joined. We advocate the idea of cultural exchange and spread the spirit of CS wherever we go. We have enjoyed being in every role we have been involved with the community. It has been a life changer for us and we try to change lives around in return.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Too many to tell. Almost exclusively positive, but ask about any country we have done Couchsurfing we can tell you a good story or two.

Interests

Gyuri: I like being active, pretty much anything as long as it's in the outdoors. Also like to follow local and international news, interested in economics, politics, history, cultures, science and the environment.
Over the times we spent in Florida i became fond of spearfishing and sailing.
*******************************************
Marta: I am more the artistic, intellectual sort. I'm open, optimistic, I love to read, to cook, to make things, to sing and to add more color to my life with any and all means possible.. trying to become sporty, although I love to walk endlessly ;-) love being out on the water, I sincerely appreciate the humbling effect nature has on me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Wish there was more time for them. Between the two of us, pretty much all styles of music and literature are covered. So if one of us is indifferent , try the other... :-))

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hard to just highlight one so here are some of ur biggest travel ventures...
-2 months backpacking in Malaysia
-Cycling from Scotland to Hungary ( 2860km)
-2.5 month road trip in USA (26 states, 18000km)
-14 months travelling in South America ( 7 backpack, 7 on a dirt bike, 27 000km)
2 months with a van in Scandinavia (13000km)
- Van life during Covid (2 yeard) we left from Hungary, toured Scandinavia, then the Balkan, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia and Iran.
-10000km in Hyundai I10 around India.

Plus some "achievements" we consider precious to us.. Owned a sailboat in Florida, caught a huge lobster (0.5kg just the tail ), built a very homely van we lived and travelled 2 years with,
went to Ushuaya (Argentina) on a motorbike, went to Nordkapp (Norway) with a van, lived a bit in Huaraz Peru and Yemiskumu Turkey.
Travelled in a jungle in SA, hiked to many mountain over 4000m and .....it goes on. We are grateful for our life and the experiences and challenges we face and the learning we are receiving every day.

Teach, Learn, Share

We are all learners, doers and teachers. Our roles are swapped around, depending on who we meet that day. We would like to learn as much of the different corners of the World as possible from as many "teachers" as we can have the good fortune to meet. We are willing to return this favour to anyone who asks the same of us.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We are happy to share our knowledge and insight about anything we have learnt and experienced in life and travelling.. we love cooking so maybe cook a Hungarian dish,
We know a lot about travelling cheap, living cheap, creative problem solving and living on the go..
