About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Wondering where I 'll be travelling next ... Romania, maybe?

ABOUT ME

Of what I 've heard, I 'm a pretty nice guy :)

No, let 's be really serious for just a second ... Who am I? I 've always found it to be the hardest question to answer ... For starters, I often feel I 'm still looking for the answer myself. And yet, so I hope, I 'll never really find it. In the end, it 's that search wich drives me to explore and discover. To live and learn. To enjoy, to cherish and, every so often, to love.
Secondly, there 's the simple fact that writing about oneself, is like taking a photograph. It reflects but a brief moment in time. People change, I change. Constantly. I am what I experience, what I learn. I am the song I 'm listening to right this moment, the book I read 20 years ago. I am that wich I want, dream and aspire. I am the ones I meet. I 'm not the person I was yesterday, nor will I be the person I am today, tomorrow. Life will have happend in the meantime. I may have had a change of hearth, a change of thoughts. I may have learned something new or I may have forgoten something old. I may have been loved, I may have been hurth ... I may even be no more, at all. Who 's to say?
And finally, there still remains the, at least equally important, question: "Who am I to you?". Who do you want me to be? Who will u you allow me to be? Just a profile on a website? A free bed or a welcome guest? A total arse or a lifelong friend? And that, my friend, is not for me to decide ...

I guess this should say something on who I am.

PHILOSOPHY

"There 's only one way to find out!"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, to be honest, not that much really ... I 've hosted my friend Anna from Sweden who I 've met at the CS-canoetour in 2010. Other than that, I must admit that I often lack the time to host or go to meetings, let alone organising something myself. In between a fulltime job and studying, I 'm quite the busy little raskal. Yet I hope I can bring change to that with each opportunity that sweeps by ...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It all started out with a trip to visit a friend in Norway ... 2007 it was. Even though I 've never heard of CS at the time, I stayed at his place for 2 weeks. Since then, I 've surfed couches in Norway and Hungary. And joined the CS-canoetour, organised by Zsolt in Hungary. Something I can really recommend to anyone. It was fantastic and I found some great friendships there.

Interests

Travelling, obviously. There 's nothing like exploring new places, discovering other cultures, to meet and learn about other peoples. To experience other ways of life to enrich ones own. It confronts one with his own views on life, question them and if found the need, adapt them. It was Augustinus who said: "The world is a book. And he who does not travell, reads but one page.".
Further more, I 'm an outdoors-enthousiast. I love hiking, climbing and a little mountainbiking. And I still go fishing once in a while, if I can find the time ...
And then there 's music. I don't play any instruments myself, but I love going out to concerts, festivals and what not. I do have a mini homestudio and I used to DJ, but it 's been on a lowlow ever since I started studying again. One has got to prioritise when needed.
And last but definatly not least: everything that has to do with personal development on a fysical, emotional, social and spiritual level. For myself, but also for others. Hence my studies and job.

Music, Movies, and Books

As far as music goes ... As a DJ I played mostly Hiphop. But for listening ... It can go any wich way. All depending on the mood I 'm in. I 'm a sucker for good reggae and 60's and 70's folk, soul or 'good' jazz (the swingin' kind). But also punkrock and even some techno or D'n'B. Most important: music that comes from the hearth and touches my soul. Not a big fan of metal kind of things or shallow poppy crap, though.
For movies ... Pfff, I don 't have any real preferences. Nor do I know alot about them. I guess I generally like Tarantino, but anything can go. A movie is something to enjoy with a friend, when we don 't have much to talk about ...
And about reading ... I don 't read as much books as I want (should?). Most of my reading is school-related these days. I do like the "Wheel of Time" series by Robert Jordan. And I recently discovered the story's and poems by Toon Tellegen. Great writing, as far as I 'm concerned.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Roadtrippin' trough Scandinavia.
DJ-ing at the worlds first Joik-battle, hiphop-style at the Markomeannu festival.
Seeing Ray Charles & Orchestra perform.
Building a replica of a vikingship.
Solo-hiking Corsicas Fra li Monti (GR20 trail)

Living life...

Teach, Learn, Share

What I could teach u ... Well, I 'm your typical jack of all trades. I know a lot about a lot, but am an expert in none. I know a thing or two about hiking, cllimbing (also still learning myself), music, fishing (carp), ... I can share with u my views on life over a beer or coffee, if u care. And who knows; maybe, just maybe, I could give u a hand in coming to a better understanding of yourself ...
