About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn EVERYTHING I can about ANYTHING- especially different places, cultures, and people.

ABOUT ME

I'm a wanderer and wonderer. My favorite activities include: Meeting new people and truly getting to KNOW them; Learning how to live a life without judging mysef harshly for the decisions I make, as well as without judging others for theirs; cooking- it's my therapy- especially with lots of different colors; reading- anything and everything; the natural ebb and flow of conversation- especially with newly made friends; working with kids- they fascinate and frustrate me at once; painting- expressively more than making literal compositions; laughing- the harder the better; learning- as much as possible. I recently graduated with my undergrad. degree in International Affairs, deferred my year at Candler School of Theology, and am now an AmeriCorps member.

PHILOSOPHY

Personal freedoms are personal. I like to keep them that way, and keep in mind that everyone's opinions are formed for a reason, and that it's no one's place to try to change anyone. I'm here to be a positive light in the world, who is honest and caring.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm addicted to travel so when I have some money, I will get in my car and go, or find a cheap plane ticket to get to a new place far away, or to join a student group who's traveling to study in a different country. I just got married to a wonderful man, who has yet to travel. I'm going to change that.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted! And my husband and I surfed in St. Louis for our first time. It was good! I'm kind and a respectful guest and a gracious host.

Interests

Foreign language. Volunteering. Working with youth. Studying. History- especially E. European. Cooking. Food- especially seafood! Observing, anything and anyone. Faith. Wine. Fiction. Film. Poetry. Theatre. Music. Instruments. Voices (for singing or speaking). TRAVELING!

Music, Movies, and Books

As for movies, I'm not a fan of really stupid/slap stick comedy or horror. I'm a scaredy-cat.

Music: I like everything but Opera (I hate vibrato) depending on my mood. If I haven't heard it, I'm open to listening to it.

Books: I love reading. I'd rather read than anything else. I like Jane Austin, HP, Anne Rice, fluff, Elizabeth George's mystery novels, C.S. Lewis, you name it, I like it. Non fiction is a bit harder for me to get into.... I like to learn something when I'm reading non fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in Germany for 8 months when I was 16/17. I learned about myself there.

I'm the daughter of a recovering Alcoholic. He's amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I served an AmeriCorps contract in 2008-2009. It's a national service organization. My contract had me tutoring 3rd-5th graders in reading at a tiny elementary school in North Central WA. I loved it.

Ask me and I will share my experiences. I have always traveled. I've lived in six states, two countries, and have the itch to travel that is more like a compulsion or need rather than a hobby.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Italy, United Kingdom
