About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Encounter, curiosity, diverse experience, calm space, nature, and everything that results
ABOUT ME
I feel home when I discover new places and people around the world. I am curious about engaging with beings/things/placed as they are, I enjoy nearly all kinds of sport - especially squash, climbing, contact improv, volleyball, gliding, swimming, inlineskating, I like games, lively discussion, fun adventure, music and dance, the warmth and feeling of belonging when gathered around a camp-fire, swimming in the sea or having good food with friends and family ... recently I discovered the joy of preparing food in a group for lots of people.
I have lived in Maastricht (Netherlands) and Kingston (Canada) during my BSc, in London and Paris during my MSc, and am now back home in Hamburg for my PhD. It's been a busy times, possibly too much head-based top-down study. I am curious what will be next - maybe Aarhus, working more directly with places and people, inviting to experience interaction.. with materials, thoughts/ideas/perspectives, sense-delights, others. .-)
PHILOSOPHY
I like playful open-endedness and a pragmatic approach. People who open their mouth to express their views but who notice what's going on around them, too. Let's appreciate that others think, live, eat, or behave differently, but may have the same needs and feelings. Makes life more interesting and enjoyable. Oh and healthy humour: being able to laugh about your expectations.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
With the amount I am on the road these days hosting is a bit tricky, but I want to open up my house again as soon as things settle down.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I will always remember a spontaneous hitchhiking trip to cologne with a friend and we ended up being offered a place to sleep at 4am - of course by a couchsurfer we met while walking to the next interesting bar (until the next day we didn't know he was a couchsurfer though). Great time. I went hitchhiking and couchsurfing from Maastricht to Santander (Spain) in summer 2011 - so many mind-opening and heart-warming experiences and interesting people.
Interests
Meet people, be outdoors, in the mountains, move in all kinds of ways, enjoy music, read mind-twisting laughter-provoking novels, dance/play squash to exhaustion, enjoy the company of my family and friends.. and I'd love to skydive sometime.. :-)
