ABOUT ME

WE are in our 50's and our daughter Sarah is 23. My son and family live in sunny Florida.We love driving down to visit. We have lived in Halifax almost 25 years in our one and only home which over looks the Bedford Basin of Halifax Harbour. We both became Christians in our 20's, shortly before we met each other.We've been married 24 years.We have been involved with helping international students learn English for the past 10 years.

PHILOSOPHY

We are at peace with our Creator and His creation. He showed us the way, the truth and the life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Our daughter Sarah started out with CS several years ago. We hosted her first surfer (Daniel) ourselves as Sarah was living in Hong Kong at the time. We consider Daniel a part of the family now,he has been back with us just recently and Sarah has visited him in Vienna.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have yet to be 'surfers' ourselves. We have hosted Sarah's couch surfers at our home and now look forward to meeting others in our home and through our future travels.

Interests

I started golf about 5 years.I manage to make enough good contact to stay with the field, especially down in Florida. We both enjoy long walks, good English movies like Bleak House, Middlemarch. One of our favorite series is 'Road to Avonlea' and 'Anne of Green Gables'.
Mary loves to knit socks, sew aprons. They say John is a good pool player.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like jazz, classical, some 'oldies', documentaries, biographies.

Mary loves the old English writers and especially Conan Doyle, the Brontes, Austens, Dickens, and her favorite George Elliott. For music,Celine Dion.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mary does travel nursing to Nunavut and North West Territories in Canada, north of 60'. She's been to Ireland many times. I worked 6 months in Chicago handling Hurricane Katrina claims along side about 250 other American claim consultants. We traveled together to Spain, and spent a day in North Africa!
