About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet people when I'm travelling who are fun, kind and love eating tapas.

ABOUT ME

I love to have fun with people and go to bars and chat to the local people and travellers.
In 2011 we are going to do some charity work in INDIA for six weeks to help poor children, we're fundraising to help pay for it on - www.bmycharity.com/india2011rosiestevecasburn

I love to travel and am a published travel writer & photographer. I won a travel writing competition last year - the prize? - 2 round-the-world tickets with Air New Zealand!!! Had 7 fab weeks there in a Campervan. Learn more about me on my website www.stylishshots.com

I usually travel with my husband Steve. He loves to cook, entertain, sail and watch rugby, especially Wales as he is Welsh. In fact, he'll watch almost any sport. I prefer to go out with my camera or mess with my photographs.

I adore Spain. I speak quite a bit of Spanish, 'mi espanol es regular', and I love to squeeze oranges for breakfast. I love watching the sunrise and sunset and especially like to watch the moon rise from the horizon over the Med, it is very special to me. We've travelled quite a lot in Spain, my favourite is Sevilla. To me, it IS Spain.
We are anti-drugs and don't smoke and have no pets.
We have a sailing boat, and sailed it from Barcelona to Mojacar. We DO have lemons on the trees and jasmine outside the windows. We loved having people over for meals or drinks. Our parties are usually fancy dress. Steve likes to cook, he does a mean paella on the beach. We are both pretty tidy. We have skied for 25 years or rather 'snow bladed'. I broke my pelvis in 5 places when skiing, but it didn't stop me going back for more!
I had a serious accident in June so couldn't host again till now.
Instead I started baking cakes!

PHILOSOPHY

Hmmm, that's a tough one: Smile! Be the first to say 'hello'. I try to live and let live. You can never have too many friends. I hate fighting and conflict.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are happy to help nice couch surfers and hope to host many people and to meet many new friends as we travel and go couch surfing. We were the first to offer rooms in Mojacar, which is cool. It'll also be great to just meet people for a drink/coffee etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted fab couple from Ireland & Italy, had great time. We all enjoyed it very much. Our daughter has surfed all over China and South Korea. I was a little nervous the first time (but who isn't?) It's time we got away from souless hotels and discovered the real heart of a place through a local friend.

Interests

Taking photos as I travel, my camera is always with me. Chatting to people. Eating tapas and trying new bars. Walking barefoot on the beach.I love the passion for life that the Spanish have and have always wanted to learn how to dance flamenco and sevillanas. I love it when both our daughters are holidaying with us, but also love that they like to travel the world too. I've started to make mosaics and enjoy watercolour painting but am useless at it!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading travel books of all different kinds.
Music - Love Lady Gaga; Black-eyed Peas; Bryan Adams 'Summer of 69', 'Imagine' John Lennon; 'Man, I feel like a Woman' Shania Twain; 'Hotel California' The Eagles and all cheesey stuff like that and almost everything Frank Sinatra ever recorded. Plus a little 'The Four Seasons' by Vivaldi;'Dark Side of the Moon'- Pink Floyd; and if Barbra Striesands' 'Don't Rain on My Parade' comes on, it HAS to be turned up FULL VOLUME.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done is jump out of a small plane at 12,000 feet, tied to a stranger. It was last year in New Zealand and was the most exciting thing I'd ever done. Steve did it as well. I also loved hiking on the Franz Josef Glacier in New Zealand with crampons on, going in ice caves - awesome.
We also went to India last year and played 'floodlit elephant polo' in Rajasthan.

Teach, Learn, Share

All travellers can teach me something. I can share my love of photography and travel. I can try to paint watercolours. I'd like help to paint a mural on a garden wall. I'm very happy to show people around this beautiful part of Spain.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bermuda, Costa Rica, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Viet Nam
