About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Take a Breath Part Two

ABOUT ME

I have come to a second breaking point where after all the work and socialising and networking and balancing, what is the point of it all? So its time to pack a backpack and head up to Europe to soak up its culture and lick life for the amazing conundrum it is.
I have been known to be a party starter.
But I adore sunset walks and slow cherry picking afternoons.
I have been known to to live for the wild.
But its because of my appreciation for wild nature.
I have been know to be insatiable.
But my palate is seldom disappointed.

PHILOSOPHY

Taste life, don't just watch it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted more than I have surfed, so I would say that I try give in hopes that someday I will be helped in a similar fashion. But I really enjoy giving tours of Cape Town to anyone willing to listen to me babble about anything my city has to offer. I love it - because I had to work hard to carve out my own little cave so far from my hometown. But Cape Town is worth it - and well worth the visit, i encourage all to visit my home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had all pleasant experiences thus far. I would go so far as to say the worst part is not being able to host fully because of work commitments. There have been a few moments where I got to join for dinner, or take a surfer to a club, but I missed out on some of the fun day time excursions.

Interests

photography, sunsets and then taking photos of it. I love to dance, I love to laugh and at the very same time I like to make people laugh. Walks. Walking paths. Beach hikes. Beaches. Lakes. Waterfalls. Ponds. Kloofing. Tattoos. Oh, did I say dancing?

There is so much, but these few give a fairly rounded perspective?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

filming wildlife. Its a humbling experience to work on the times of animals. Its hard work and very rewarding if done properly.

The most amazing experience was chillin at sunset next to a lake, smokin a spliff and sipping a g and t when suddenly a hippo emerged from the water to scare the living daylights out of me. That cute harmless pig looking animal is rather a huge mass of intimidation. I screamed, i ran and i laughed for hours, its probably the closest I'll ever get to a hippo in the wild again.

My first backpacking trip to Europe was unbelievable - small mining town boys from deep southern africa often have a belief that they will never see anything other than the small mining town they grew up in. Needless to say I was overwhelmed almost everyday. First trip out of Africa and I spent three months stomping around western Europe.

Finally, my own home in a place I really wanted to live was really amazing - although this wasn't as spontaneous as say the first examples and took some hard work and patience but the elation was still the same.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make cocktails. I spent over a year running my own bar, mastering classic cocktails and inventing some new ones. I can mix up a storm for any party anytime.
I enjoy the outdoors and can name most trees, plants and animals you would find in South Africa. Spending time filming wildlife gave me most of this knowledge.
I have been making large origami pieces/structures for a few years.
I review films and tend to watch almost everything.
I am one Hell of a cook - I live for flavour.
I am a keen student, and as nerdy as it may be I really love a good history lesson when I travel. The first thing I did when I got to Paris was see the catacombs - odd, creepy but a history fact I wanted to know more about.
