About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I work to travel! Have traveled all over and had just as much fun at primitive locales and environments as I have in 5* resorts. When in Rome...

ABOUT ME

Spent my entire life around the arts, music in particular with my second focus being my kids who are now 29 and 30. They are both fine musicians and we've had a lot fun traveling together. Many parents were surprised that our kids wanted to go places with us as teenagers. The answer was and is, we always do fun and exciting things, going anywhere and doing most anything. I've lived in a small town with a big ten university of 40,000 students my entire adult life so youth rules and its influence is paramount and energizing. I appreciate excellence in anything and am just as comfortable at a soccer game as I am at the opera. That is the way most people live their life in Bloomington as we have easy access to all kinds of activities and knowledge. My kids went to an elementary school with over 40 nationalities represented and that about says it all about the environment here. The world came to us and it made us want to see more of the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My home is right downtown in Bloomington, a few from Indiana University and is an easy access point to everything. As a host, I enjoy showing off our locale and am aware of all the neat things to do and see. We are flexible in people coming and going, we stay up late and are easy going. Only no-no is smoking or drugs.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Hosted a man from NYC just arriving for graduate school. Had a nice dinner on the porch and gave him some tips on apts and locations for housing; he stayed with me while looking. He is now here and we've emailed but he is very busy with school. His name is Jacque LaRoche. Stayed for 4 nights with Matthius "Robbiesailing" in Germany who was a fabulous host! (I never use the word "fabulous" so you know he was the BEST)! Took us to the soccer stadium for a big rivalry game, took us to Hofbrau Haus and to lots of fun places. What a treat!

Interests

Interesting conversation, hiking, being close or on the water, reading newspapers and finely written books, listening to music of all kinds.

Music, Movies, and Books

There's good and bad in all music; I'm open. Not much time for movies. An old boyfriend said once, "I want to live life, not watch it on a screen." I ascribe to that philosophy. Don't own a TV. Read newspapers every day and some books but have to read a lot of info for life in general so don't have a lot of time for pleasure reading. Just reread Stories from the Arabian Nights which again made me want to go to Morocco where I've never been.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing to me is that it truly is a small world and you can find connections wherever you go. I was crossing the ocean on a ship from Greece to Italy and struck up a conversation with a young couple who happened to be musicians. They knew my former roommate, a violinist, who had relocated after graduation to Germany! This has happened so many times but I am always amazed at what a small world the music world is!

Teach, Learn, Share

Creative problem solving is my strength. It's a way of thinking that I enhanced when I had the coaching of my first real estate broker-manager. There are solutions to questions and situations other than the obvious. Persistence is a big part of finding an answer.

What I Can Share with Hosts

An enthusiasm in enjoying their locale.
