About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discovering new worlds within ours..

ABOUT ME

I'm a half-spanish brazilian who's getting to know Spain. I lived in Porto Alegre, Brazil, until january 2010 and will be living in Seville, Spain, until next january in an exchange program between my university (UFRGS) and the university of Seville. But, let's face it: for what really matters here, the important thing is that this year in Europe is providing me the possibility to explore lots of different countries, cultures, peoples, cuisines, costumes, ... And I think that's pretty much what I expect CS to help me with =)

PHILOSOPHY

Music comes in handy here: "You only live once", so "Relax: take it easy!", because "What goes around comes all the way back around". lol

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been hosted in London for a couple days, and also hosted once in my place in Seville.

Interests

Apart from my family and friends, my big passions are music (I used to sing in a rock band when I was young, I can play, though lamely, guitar and I'm pretty much always humming a song out of the blue) and politics.

I'm also really into social networks and tv series (kinda geek, I know...) and, more lately, photography.

Music, Movies, and Books

I tend to face movies, music and books as different means of amusement rather than build cultural theories about them. Having said that, I keep no strings attached to any specific genre when it comes to culture, although I have, of course my faves. Let's see:
MOVIES: fight club, lord of the rings, requiem for a dream, elsa y fred, entre les murs, nome próprio, batismo de sangue etc.
MUSIC: the list would be neverending, but the highlights would, definetly, be
the strokes, phoenix, muse, the killers, two door cinema club, css, little joy, john mayer, the kooks, the libertines, cachorro grande, los hermanos, vinícius de moraes, chico buarque, caetano veloso, tom jobim, marisa monte etc.
BOOKS: the lord of the rings, harry potter, o conto da ilha desconhecida, o dia do curinga, la peste, apart from everything written by Machado de Assis, Carlos Drummond de Andrade. I also really enjoy biographies...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I keep getting home inexplicably after partying hard week after week.
I almost got arrested in Morocco for taking a picture of a policeman (!?).
I saw the sunrise in the desert at Merzouga, Morocco.
I went fishing with my dad in Argentina's Pantanal when I was 14 (well, I find it really cool =P)

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACHING: I can teach you some awesome recipes, such as lemon risotto, or, more interesting, brazilian caipirinha =D Oh, yeah, and I can show you some really good music lol
LEARNING: I love learning new languages or new expressions from languages I'm already skilled at =)
SHARING: Maybe some poetry? Take my five cents from my favourite brazilian poet, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, with "E agora, José?" (What now, José?):

What now, José?
The party’s over,
the lights are off,
the crowd’s gone,
the night’s gone cold,
what now, José?
what now, you?
you without a name,
who mocks the others,
you who write poetry
who love, protest?
what now, José?
You have no wife,
you have no speech
you have no affection,
you can’t drink,
you can’t smoke,
you can’t even spit,
the night’s gone cold,
the day didn’t come,
the tram didn’t come,
laughter didn’t come
utopia didn’t come
and everything ended
and everything fled
and everything rotted
what now, José?
what now, José?
Your sweet words,
your instance of fever,
your feasting and fasting,
your library,
your gold mine,
your glass suit,
your incoherence,
your hate—what now?
Key in hand
you want to open the door,
but no door exists;
you want to die in the sea,
but the sea has dried;
you want to go to Minas
but Minas is no longer there.
José, what now?
If you screamed,
if you moaned,
if you played
a Viennese waltz,
if you slept,
if you tired,
if you died…
But you don’t die,
you’re stubborn, José!
Alone in the dark
like a wild animal,
without tradition,
without a naked wall
to lean against,
without a black horse
that flees galloping,
you march, José!
José, where to?
