About Me
I believe that the purpose of life is to jam as much experiences into yours as possible, to say yes to new things, to try and make the lives of others easier and happier, while expanding the your horizons as well as those of the people around you. I'd like to travel more, so I came here.
My hobbies include writing, painting, and other creative pursuits. If you want to know anything else, ask away!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was first introduced to the concept of couch surfing when I was a teenager and I went to the art-gallery/chapel of Alex Grey in NYC with one of my friends, out of love for the man's work and a curiosity of his "cult" (as people have referred to it as), and my friend started talking to this one lone guy. I approached and engaged in the conversation and I found out that he was a couch-surfer and that we had a lot of similar ideas about politics, the world, life, etc. So the three of us left the gallery, grabbed some beers and just walked around the city for hours talking. Eventually the friend I initially came with grew bored of our talking and took a train back home, but my new-found friend and I continued to walk and talk. That was one of the best conversations I'd had in years. I learned so much and all of his life-experience just seemed to radiate from him.
I started traveling and bacpacking a couple of years later, and that sealed the deal.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Memento, Star Wars, Before Sunrise, Waking Life, Fight Club, The Science of Sleep, Enter the Void, and anything by Richard Linklater really.
Music: I listen to a little bit of everything, currently jamming out to Tame Impala, Band of Horses and Gramatik.
Books: I really like books that are kind of unique in their style. The Things They Carried and House of Leaves come to mind. And anything Vonnegut is amazing.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
If I think of my life's adventures, one of the most exciting was sailing through a pretty bad storm in the Bahamas as a Boy Scout. The wind was so strong that the deck of the boat was nearly at a 45 degree angle, and we had to crawl around in prone position to avoid falling off the boat as we made adjustments to the sails. Finally getting to rest in a calm bay that night, and looking up at the band of the Milky Way in the sky as I fell asleep on the deck of the boat I just sailed to safety was one of the best feelings in the world.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a little bit about everything. My mind is full of information that I rarely utilize, but sometimes it can come in handy. When it comes to things I can teach, I'm kind of a jack of all trades, master of none. I can cook pretty well though.
Learning something new is always rewarding, so I'm accepting of any teacher.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook a pretty good meal with limited ingredients, and I'm always happy to help people with anything that I can.
