ABOUT ME

hi, i'm naomi, average twenty-something female mingling between reason and madness, both very fun. i live in wonderful basel, city of roger federer, chemical rhein and fierce doll museum.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

this project enables cultural interaction in the best way possible. in times of anonymous hotels in noisy cities it is important for people to have a friendly place to come to, have some wine and find life in the unknown. as far as hosting goes,my flatmates and i believe in sharing and opening our home so if you come we don't only provide a mattress and a shower but also our time and sympathy as far as it's possible. you can hang around, do stuff on your own but will also become part of our lives even if it's just for a short time and we will do our best to make you feel welcome. of course expecting similar behaviour in return. if you prefer hotel-like standards in house and people, please don't contact me, it would be depressing for the both of us. mostly for you though because hotels tend to have clean bathrooms.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

superfantastisk. from two-hour-visitors to crazy australians who stayed three weeks, every single couch surfer was a great experience. i tend to track down old surfers of mine and stay at their place so beware

Interests

junk from the street, illegal trespassing from time to time, hitchhiking through unknown territories, cooking-marathons at stranger's places, knitted decorations, detergent, removing nice wine glasses from snobby bars (karma), free art, free music, free anything, staying up all day and all night and all day and all night, brunch.

creative action, active creation.

Music, Movies, and Books

all time favourites are tillsammans, waking life and a beautiful movie with tilda swinton i saw once but forgot the name of (she is on her bike, riding along the berlin wall or something) i like the occasional crappy tatort on sundays and of course the genious arrested development.

jazz in the morning is nice, techno at night, sentimental folk music or stuff like tycho or nujabes during the day.

paul auster and donna tartt anytime. am currently obsessed with karl ove knausgard, my infatuation with this guy is getting unhealthy, i know EVERYTHING about him, it's sick.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

roof golf in buenos aires, tango in buenos aires, basically everything in buenos aires - magical city! swimming in rivers at 5am in summer rain, camping on rooftops, eating po'boys on parking lots in new orleans, running around detroit and again and again: taking the mattress out onto our wonderful terrace and sleeping outside.

Teach, Learn, Share

i can teach you how to bake cakes in a gas oven (not that easy..), mix caipirinhas and understand eastern european art, how to steal glasses in clubs, fence and juggle, how to touch your nose tip with your tongue and make a whole conversation out of an unbearably boring topic (latinostyle).
the only thing i'd ask in return would be getting me to stop biting my nails and watching toddlers and tiaras. (please!)
