About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To boldly go EVERYWHERE! To gain perspective on what's really important in life.
ABOUT ME
I like to quote songs to describe my feelings, and collect the lines that move me into found poems. I love those quiet moments of reflection in solitude, and those highs of energy and enthusiasm when you see someone you haven't seen for a very long time, or discover someone amazing, or just spend time with good friends laughing until you cry. I try to be accepting and curious, and I guess I have a few very fundamental beliefs, but I always try to question basic assumptions and new ideas that I am exposed to. You never know what you'll discover when you think critically and open your heart. I seem to meet wonderful people wherever I go (or stay!), and I'm really looking forward to traveling, meeting other Couch Surfers, and seeing life from many different angles.
PHILOSOPHY
Be bold, and mighty forces will come to your aid.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
This will be my first Couch Surfing experience! A good friend spent three years traveling around the world after high school and he had an incredible experience Couch Surfing, so I have to thank him for telling me about it. I couldn't believe that a network like this even existed when he first told me, and now it seems like such a great idea that I don't understand why more people don't know about it. I want to participate by having positive Couch Surfing experiences, and spreading the word!
Interests
For fun: art, traveling, fortune-telling, gardening, walking, biking, reading, writing, exploring unknown avenues of adventure. Lots of creative pursuits! Music, listening and playing (guitar, hoping to learn more piano).
For academic fun: language and languages, history and philosophy of science, human cognition and the brain.
I'm just getting to know myself, really, so my interests are wide open!

Music, Movies, and Books
Right now, or in the future, I'd like to read:
Bukowski
Kafka
Gödel, Escher, Bach (Douglas Hofstadter)
Notes From a Small Island (Bill Bryson, gearing up for my year in Scotland come September!)
The Spiral Dance (Starhawk)
Camus (La peste, je pense)
Bonheur d'occasion (Gabrielle Roy)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once rode a motorcycle from Chemainus to Victoria, BC, one of the most wonderful memories I can think of. The scenery is incredible. The island (of Vancouver) is the greenest place I've ever seen.
I also hitch-hiked over 1000km from Mendoza to Buenos Aires and met some of the nicest imaginable truck drivers, drank maté with one of them, saw flamengos up close, and had the best coffee of my life at a truck stop.
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, France, Spain
Countries I’ve Lived In
Canada, Chile
