CURRENT MISSION
Embark on adventures, learn, spread a little joy
ABOUT ME
The Monchichis are:
silly, happy laughter, picnics, Thai and Mexican food, homemade ice cream and cupcakes, dinner parties, hiking, snorkeling, diving, museums and loved ones.
Andres is:
quiet, mellow, science, soccer, Bolivia, music, beach volleyball, family, burritos, pancakes, creator of delicious food, online news, shoulder-shaking laughter and kindness.
Jennifer is:
friendly, creative, speak first/think later, book/art/people/life lover, dancing/conversations-about-life marathons, experimental cupcake flavors, and getting lost in new places to get to know them.
We love bonding with people over long (and delicious) meals, discovering and learning new things, and (of course) traveling.
PHILOSOPHY
What would you do if you had no fear?
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We host, and we surf. Both can be awesome.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We've couchsurfed informally with friends and family for ages, and we've been with couchsurfing.org since 2009. During our yearlong backpacking trip, we surfed with about a dozen couchsurfers in almost that many countries and had some incredible experiences. Now that we're back in the States, we've really enjoyed being on the hosting side, too.
We generally don't ask people to host us unless we really want to meet them-- we're not just looking for a free crash pad. (We usually ended up spending more money when we couchsurfed because we wanted to take our hosts out to eat, etc. Another reason we only couchsurfed about once a month while we were backpacking.) As hosts, we're also going to be more likely to host people who we're excited to meet. :-)
Interests
food, exploring new places on foot, doing good in the world, and trying to be good parents to our baby girl. :-)

Music, Movies, and Books
Yes. Lots! And a variety. Andres is a "Matrix" kind of guy, and Jennifer is more of an "Amelie" type, but we both love Pixar ("Up," "Finding Nemo," "The Incredibles") and interesting documentaries. For music, we like everything from Ozomatli to Ludovico Einaudi-- pretty eclectic but generally mellow or upbeat. For books, Andres likes a range from "100 Years of Solitude" to "The Diary of a Wimpy Kid," and Jennifer likes Faulkner, Woolf and Thoreau.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Rode camels and camped in Berber tents in the Sahara desert, tramped on a glacier in New Zealand, scuba dived around a plane wreck in Indonesia and looking forward to more adventures.
Teach, Learn, Share
Anything and everything. We are generally interested in how things work, why things happen, and what we can do better.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We're clean, neat and respectful, and we love sharing stories with people. We also love to cook and bake, so we're happy to help prepare yummy treats for you. :-)
