About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Tto explore the European continent!

ABOUT ME

I'm a freelance translator/interpreter. I love my work and think it's the best job in the world because I don't get stuck in an office from 9am-6pm during the week. However, when the deadline is around the corner and the editor keeps bombarding me with e-mails threatening/begging me to turn in my translation...well, that's another story.

Here's the list of the books I have translated:

1. A Very Lonely Planet: Love, Sex, and the Single Guy
2. The Opal Deception (Artemis Fowl, Book 4)
3. The Lost Colony (Artemis Fowl, Book 5)
4. Sundays at Tiffanyâ

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that if I try hard enough, I can do almost anything!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Guess I should starting with...hosting and surfing???

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm a new-comer and have yet done any couchsurfing. I heard it's a lot of fun and the best way to travel. Hope I get to enjoy it as much as my friends did!

Interests

clubbing:
I love hip-hop. I won't call myself a great dancer, but I enjoy it.

Learning a foreign language:
When I try to say the French "U" sound, my French friends always laugh. But now I think about it, when they try to say words in Mandarin Chinese, they never get the tones right, either...

Meeting people from different parts of the world:
I believe travel is not really about where you've taken pictures, but the people you meet on the way. And that's exactly why I signed up for CS!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Hayao Miyazaki's works. Though his works appear to be cartoons for kids, each title really has a lot more to tell. I love Wong Kar Wai's films as well. Films that tell you more with very few words are always the best.

My all-time favorite film, though, is a Japanese one called "Love Letter." It's a sad story about a boy and a girl who have the same name and run into each other in the same classroom. Years later, the girl receives a letter from the boy's fiancée...It's a lovely work. Absolutely beautiful.

When I was young, I read a lot of books for fun. Now I still read a lot...for work! I guess it's not too bad to be paid to do something you love, isn't it?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 18, I set my mind to become a freelance translator/interpreter and a student at the same time. I DID IT! YEAH!!!

Dancing on the SUBWAY (both the subway platform and the car): I have a very low tolerance of alcohol, but my friends always made me drink, and when I get drunk (i.e. after ONE beer)...

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe that only when you make friends with local people have you actually been to a place.

Just taking pictures of all the major tourist attractions and showing off to your friends when you're home, at least to me, is boring and pointless!
