About Me

I want to connect deeply with the earth, myself, and if we meet-- with you! Let's not waste a moment of this precious life-- I want to know who you are, your story, and what this experience of life is like for you. If you reach out for a place to stay, I want to see that you have read my profile and have a genuine desire to connect.

I was a public school teacher for 10 years, and stopped about a year ago. Right now I am watching life form a new path as I am beginning something I´d never thought of doing before-- writing a book. Meeting new people like you is part of opening up to whatever the universe has in store for me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I travel, it's all about the people I meet, not the sights I see. I like to take my time, go slow, get to know a city and its people, to learn its stories. I preferred to talk with the people at the chai shop near the Taj Mahal than actually visit the Taj Mahal itself (it's true!).

I have surfed and hosted. When I lived in Myanmar, I was proud to be the first host in the country! These days I live in a communal house just outside of Washington, D.C. We like to host many friends, and are open to hosting Couchsurfers.

Interests

I love to dance, to sing, to make things, and be outside. I love to make music with friends, work outside in my permaculture garden, make art, go hiking, meditate, etc. I care about our earth, and try to always live simply and without harming others. I prefer mountains to beaches and can't help but dance to a good beat.

Music, Movies, and Books

Pearl & the Beard, Iron &Wine, Bjork, Anais Mitchell, Bowerbirds, First Aid Kit-- all have great albums I like to listen to all the way through. I love to dance like no one is watching-- drum circles, Balkan Beat Box, any kind of gypsy-style Klezmer music brings this out in the best way.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I stayed on a catamaran near the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Each night, I slept out on the tarp outside rather than in one of the beds. The water twinkled from bioluminescence and the stars were so clear- it was hard to tell where the water ended and the heavens began.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to teach people about photography, to explore making art together, to sing a song together.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I enjoy cooking and cleaning, and am always happy to pitch in around the house. I love to get to know my hosts, and I am also very independent. If you have free time while I am around-- great!-- but if not, I will be just fine wandering around the area on my own.
