About Me

CURRENT MISSION

this will take some study and deep thought, but "be here now" is a good start

ABOUT ME

I'm a pretty open minded, easy going and laid back guy. I appreciate quiet places, except when it comes to listening or making music...I like it loud! I'm also pretty health conscious, and really enjoy my fitness activities. Like many couchsurfers I tend to be economical, always interested in stretching a dollar. I like getting around roadblocks, and finding holes in fences.....avoiding crowds and commotion is high on my list too. Sorry, don't do Facebook, I deleted it a while ago.

PHILOSOPHY

"Most people die when they are 25, but aren’t buried till they are about 65" -who said that? ....Ben Franklin -not much different since he said it...
I watch the sun rise and then set.....like some other things in life, not much you can do to change what the sun does; ...Life is short - make it count!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

uhhh, so far I have mostly hosted. I have couchsurfed in Argentina and Brasil, and had a great time. I'm looking forward to being a couchsurfer in other countries.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just a great experience so far! Since joining I have hosted some other really great, and interesting couchsurfers, all have inspired me in one way or another.

Interests

surfing, jogging, trail running, working out, yoga, and other fitness stuff, with a few beers along the way sometimes, depending on my fitness goals de jour -I usually try to surf if the wave gods are cooperative and I haven't beat myself up doing other stuff; no surf or poor conditions, NO PROBLEM; I'll do some yoga, or work out at the gym, jogging in soft sand. I am a novice drummer and really enjoy getting lost in the drum kit trying to do new things and keeping the neurons busy. I can lose two hours playing on the drum kit pretty easily. (much to the delight of my neighbors, I'm sure). I suppose my friends would say I'm a pretty good car mechanic, (they always call me when they have a problem with their car) its always been kind of a hobby for me, almost like a survival skill (ever broke down in the middle of no-where?)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is one of my best friends-(thank you 8tracks dot com) I like most all music (alt/punk/indie/electronic,etc); but rock and EDM (even in Spanish!) is usually what I listen to-mostly current stuff- there is too much new music and not enough time to hear it all; old stuff is just that - Books; not usually, unless its an instructional type, however there are some fiction things in the pile (Siddhartha is one...well I guess that could be kinda instructional) - Movies; action and wacky comedy mostly; a good drama works too- Fight Club, Matrix, Star Wars, Terminator, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Blues Brothers, Dead Pool, to name a few; so many movies...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

something we probably all have done and take for granted, but when you think about it, its pretty amazing to fly through the air at about 30,000 feet at 600 miles per hour in a shiny silver metal cylinder; Surfing on a good double overhead wave is also a pretty amazing thing I have done, or scuba diving to 100 feet below the surface of the water, or sailing across the ocean....I don't know; sometimes just watching the sunset, appreciating the gift of sight is pretty amazing... but its surfing that entrances me most...

Teach, Learn, Share

I am more practical than esoteric; I enjoy learning new and different things from others and also enjoy sharing useful tips and tricks with others. I especially enjoy trying to converse en español with native speakers....

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a host myself, I appreciate any help around the household keeping things neat and clean, so I would be doing the same for anyone who hosts me. I can help planning a meal and preparing one. I'm not the best chef, but I like to make great salads so I always offer to do that. Everyone always asks what its like living in Hawaii so I have lots of pictures to share when I travel. I have no problem learning different ways to do things when I visit another persons home, and adapting to whatever the household norms are.
