About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To spread cosmic, kharmatic reactions.
ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Caitlin and I am currently living in Portage Lakes, a small community south of Akron, Ohio. I will be finishing my fifth year of college, and graduating!, in August 2010 (hopefully). I was certified to teach English as a foreign language and taught in Dresden, Germany for 3 months. My studies have been concentrated in English Literature and Teaching English as a Foreign Language.
Although I am in school, traveling, exploring, creating, learning, loving, and spreading peace are more than important aspects of my life.
Last summer I was lucky enough to have traveled across country with two very important people in my life. For three months we hiked, camped, explored, adventured, learned, and discovered so much about not only ourselves, but of our planet and of those who exist on it. While none of us had cars (or enough money for gas) to make it around the country and to Alaska, we decided to jump on the Greyhound and allow them to do the driving! We purchased 60 day unlimited passes and made it to 26 states and one province.
Unfortunately, I was not able to pull together funds to create another long-term adventure this summer. However, I am doing my best to escape the monotony of work and school this summer while adventuring to music festivals and taking smaller hiking trips. After I graduate in August, I have no plans besides Burning Man and am hoping to begin exploring yet again!

PHILOSOPHY
I believe that this life is the only one we have. So why not make the most out of everyday and take in every aspect and experience possible?
Like earlier said, I am learning that cosmic, kharmatic reactions keep happening all around me. Everyday. I continuously am meeting the most incredible people. And, these people seem to appear when I least expect it. For example, I trekked a few miles with my pack to what I thought was the current Greyhound station in Sante Fe. When I arrived, the station was closed and a sign said to head to a gas station on a street somewhere in the town. I had one map, so graciously given to me by a city worker. Unfortunately, the map was only of the Sante Fe National Forest ((which is more than beautiful)). As a storm was quickly rolling in, a car drove behind the building where I had this giant map laid out. Three people in the car asked if we needed a ride to the Greyhound. Kendra, our favorite Santa Fean so far, took us into her home, opened her life, and allowed us to crash on her couches without even knowing us.
Things like this keep happening on my journeys. Somehow, giving for so many years is reacting in ways I never expected. I am so thankful for everything I have been given and have experienced thus far.
These reactions reaffirm my beliefs in people on this world. There are so many giving, gracious people; you just have to be open to what they are willing to share with you.
And with this philosophy, I will continue to give, love, and share what ever I may have with all I encounter with hopes to continure cosmic, kharmatic reactions, not only for myself, but for all.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My first experience with a couchsurfer was in Pensacola, FL one year ago. I had an absolutely incredible time with our host, Michael. Being taken into a home by anyone is an incredible feeling, especially by a stranger. I realized more and more during my trip last summer that people on this planet produce cosmic, kharmatic reactions. And, I want to continue those reactions.
As I have recently moved, I am settling into my new home and adjusting to having new and wonderful rommates! SOON, I will be able to open my home up to fellow travelers and surfers! We are all in this together, so why not help eachother so we may all explore the wonders of this world?
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My first couchsurfing experience was in Florida, where I had a more than excellent time. I also couchsurfed in Cedar City, Utah with the most amazing group of people who opened their entire apartment building up to myself and friend for almost three days. In San Diego my couchsurfing host picked me up at 5 am from a Greyhound station and, while being in school, managed to show me all around San Diego and surrounding areas. In New Mexico I was picked up by a total stranger while searching for a recently moved Greyhound station. She opened her apartment up and continuously proved to me a more than remarkable and loving person.
