ABOUT ME

I'm a young actor/props artisan trying to make some sort of career in theatre. I prefer stage work and my worst fear is getting famous. I'd rather just be able to do my art and not be bothered by the superficialness that comes with fame. I'm 24 and just now trying to get out and explore the world. Trying to make up for some lost time I guess. Grew up in North Carolina, dad was in the 82nd Airborne. Yep jumped out of planes for a living into combat zones. Mom is a church secretary (with an agnostic son...sorry mom, love you) but mostly was stay at home with me and my younger autistic brother, Ben, who is 20 now. Lived in Germany from 6 months old to 3 years. It was my first home but I hardly remember it. I'm well read, but rusty, in philosophy and religious studies from college. Not rusty in theatre reading at all. Need to sit down and read something not about theatre for once.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to be a pragmatist in the vain of William James. If it works for you and makes your life better go with it. Of course with in reason. But it make a decent core philosophy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm brand new to the couchsurfing experience. I'll be in New York taking acting classes at The Stella Adler Studio of Acting for 10 weeks this summer. I leave on the 23rd, and I'm just hoping to meet some people I can crash with for any length of time. I've got a place to stay when I first get there but I don't want to over stay my welcome with anyone. More than happy to just meet up for coffee(I'll drink tea or soda, not a coffee fan) just to get to know people and if you want to let me crash thats cool. Either way I really want to take advantage of the time I have in New York so that I can decide if thats a place I want to settle down in for a while.

Music, Movies, and Books

Largely I read plays. Trying to get back to reading more literature. I love Renaissance plays...Shakespeare, Marlowe, Middleton. Modern stuff I love is from Mamet to Ionesco. Closer is one of my favorite plays. Music wise I'm pretty open to anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing on castle ruins in England. Getting yelled at to get down and not caring at all. I miss England.

Teach, Learn, Share

I tend to be full of random knowledge so I'm ready to teach and learn anything someone has to give. I have a background in theatre, philosophy and religious studies from college. I'm a carpenter by trade and more than willing to help fix stuff around the house and teach you how to fix it yourself. I'm terrible at learning other languages. That is the reason its taken me so long to finish college. Any body that can teach me in a way I can learn any language would be a blessing I couldn't repay
