ABOUT ME

Let's start from the beginning... I grew up in a small city, less then 3000 people. And yes, I did not missed a zero there. I knew everybody who lives there, and many of them are my relatives. Its almost like a big family living next to each other :) My Family owns a small coffee farm there; I guess thats the reason I L.O.V.E Coffee. I consider myself a luck person to be born in a beautiful place surrounded by green mountains, friendly people, and the smell of coffee!
Then I grew up, and realized that there are other beautiful mountains to see but I ended up in Houston, a flat land! Life can be tricky, in a good way! But I fell is love with this city, its diversity gave me exposure to other cultures that I never imagined existed.
And life surprised me, as always... I moved to U.S planning to stay for a year, learn a decent form of English, and save some money to backpack thru South America. However, Love found me, "I fell into a burning ring of fire" :) and now I share my trip plans with Jesus Macias. (Also a Couchsurfer.)
I am a simple, wholehearted, and down to earth person. I absolutely love to do anything thats involves nature, homemade food, and good hearted people.

Oh! now the black side: I get cranky when I am hungry or sleepy, even worst when both happen.

P.s. when you read many of the references I wrote you will find lots of grammar mistakes. I enjoy reading them once in a while to remember my firsts years in America.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a theater piece that doesn`t allow testing. So, sing, cry, dance, laugh and live intensely, before the curtain is closed and the piece ends without applause. Charlie Chaplin

Music, Movies, and Books

There is two types of movies for me. Those you can watch many times, and those that is so unrealistic, horrible and superficial that you can only handle watching once. I have to tell, I have a crush on Japanese anime. Love Miyazaki work! Love french movie for their realism with life. Love Brazilian movies for their raw, beautiful way to express simple life. Love british for their humor! And about american movies we gonna have to have a long conversation. Am I crazy because I never watched Star Wars? I still plan to watch though, I just need some level of strength.
Oh I am from the oldies, but I also enjoy the newlies. Nina Simone but Madeleine Peyroux. Johnny Cash but Airborne Toxic Event. the Bobs. and other hundreds bands. Know what I love? I love to get in a new city and see a local band. Like the celtic band in NY, or in Austin...
Or any music that makes me feel good, and touches my soul...
Books are my dear friends, I can never read one at a time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was scared but I got into that plane and left ZA, then again I was scared but I got into the plane and came to the US. I was deeply sad for loosing one of the most important person of my life, but I changed his diapers, I nursed, and fed him until the day I was beside him I saw his last breath. Then I realized that life is simple like that, by the next breath that never came life is over. And what is the most important aspect of living is the emotional connections you make, serving the community to make a better world, having empathy with others, about the good difference you make in the life of your loved ones and even the ones you haven't met. Living is about caring for yourself and for others, to be kind, generous, and thankful. That's all what my grandfather left to me.
