ABOUT ME

I love people and people definitely energise me. Time well spent is time with another. My occupation is Community Development and Counselling - I get the biggest buzz from seeing someone's life transformed and renewed. I am working towards implementing workshops that assist people heal from horrible experiences. I have been endlessly provided for and looked after by God - inspiring me to give a lot because I've been given a lot.

I have always loved art - I could create all day if I'd let myself. I enjoy being outside in many activitis. I play some flute and would like to be disciplined enough to finish learning the guitar properly and learn the cello. This now gets used in work programmes as forms of art therapy.

I am a country girl at heart and have a very big soft spot for the country. I came to Melbourne to be equipped to work overseas and that process will see me here for a while. I must admit that while part of me misses country life I have enjoyed the bonuses of the city.

Also, our world really is beautiful - otherwise why would many us try and get the most out of life and live as long as possible.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The couch surfer craze started with a house mate pointing out how CS is far better than any other networks. I see CS as a closely connected group who work to be a community. There are several CS meetings, interest groups and functions in Melbourne that help to create this community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The couch surfers who have stayed with us have come from countries all over the globe. CS have played on sports teams with us, we have gone on short road trips together, played tourist in Melbourne and hung out sharing great meals. Each person has a new world to share from their experiences and it is worth experiencing!

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

movies with Monty Python, Ever After (the girly fairytale) and The Pursuit of Happiness.
U2 and REM would be 2 old-time fav bands and two books I would like to read are The Piper's Son and The Time Traveler's Wife. I will add here The Jesus I Never Knew - giving us a great preview into His personal life and His purpose

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have to mention several... volunteering overseas, especially places like a HIV/Aids orphanage in Thailand.
Walking for 100 kilometres was pretty full on (and a bit painful!).
One other - climbing Mt Potosi in Bolivia, around 6000 metres, it's amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

The world/creation really is fascinating. I have learnt (by both the easy and hard way) that we all have a huge responsibility in looking after ourselves, each other and all we have in this world - a responsibility we tend to all forget/neglet from time to time. Thanks that God is loving in this process as we learn.
