ABOUT ME

I'm a nurse who lives in Milwaukee, WI. Cautious optimism, love of books & knowledge, a tendency towards the absurd, an ability to find hilarity in almost anything, and, similarly, a somewhat warped sense of humor, these are words I would choose to describe myself. I enjoy the feeling of being a stranger in a new and exciting place, which is, I reckon, what brought me here.

PHILOSOPHY

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couchsurfing experience was absolutely amazing. I'll never forget the night my hosts and I tore up the town: the dancing, the tasty drinks, the variety of music...I feel like I really got a taste of Nashville and made some wonderful new friends. I have now hosted and surfed several times and it has always been a positive experience.

Interests

I'm generally interested in __________.

More specifically, wandering around art museums, eating spicy food (even though I'm kind of a baby and get a little bit sweaty and red), sitting with a good book on a sunny day, riding my bicycle, taking candid photos, riding the bus, people watching while riding the bus, having unexpectedly intimate conversations with people I don't know very well, late nights, strange idiosyncrasies, exploring hypothetical situations to their logical conclusions...

Music, Movies, and Books

A quick list, in no particular order: Pulp Fiction, Adaptation, Rachel Getting Married, The Lives of Others, Annie Hall, The Good/Bad/Ugly, ET, Fargo, and so many more. I really enjoy a good movie.

And books: Infinite Jest, Franny and Zooey, Of Mice and Men, The World Doesn't End, and again, so much more.

And tunes: Man, I'm all over the place with music. Right now, I'm really into the Stones, Springsteen, Toots and the Maytals, Dylan, The Magnetic Fields, The Pixies, Lou Reed/Velvet Underground, Wavves, Kanye, the National... the list goes on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To me, the amazing is in the ordinary (somewhat cliche sounding, but really).

That said, the first thing that comes to mind (and I suppose thusly the most memorable) is my trip to China to visit my sister.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm willing to learn almost anything. Origami? Sure. Magic trick? Yeah, okay. I suppose I would be most interested in something involving local cuisine-- teach me how to make a local dish and I'm your friend forever.
