Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
become a master cheesemaker
ABOUT ME
I grew up in the suburbs and then spent four years at The University of Texas. Then I spent four months at a goat farm in New Mexico and realized that what I really want to do is be a goat farmer. Now I'm traveling around, learning languages, meeting lots of amazing people, and learning about farming and cheesemaking.
PHILOSOPHY
"Be like the fox who makes more tracks than necessary, some in the wrong direction. Practice resurrection." - Wendell Berry
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have not couchsurfed yet, but I am really looking forward to it. In my travels, especially while bicycle touring, I've met so many friendly and hospitable people, some of whom have welcomed me into their homes and helped me out when I really needed help! And when I eventually settle down, my home will always be open to like-minded travelers.
Interests
Cheese! Goats! Other animals! Permaculture and sustainable agriculture, all kinds of fermentation.
Writing and reading.
Riding my bike. I rode my bike from Vancouver to San Diego last summer with some friends. Then, earlier in this trip, I rode through Andalucia, Spain. I had to ship my bike to London but I'm looking forward to getting back on it this summer.
I like yoga, swimming, dancing, hiking, and camping. And of course traveling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have...
ridden my bike from Vancouver to San Diego
lived in Senegal for 5 months
crossed 2 borders without my passport
killed a chicken
danced onstage with The Flaming Lips
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a bit about: gardening, fermentation (yogurt, sauerkraut, kombucha, cheesemaking.), writing, permaculture, raising goats, Senegal.
Want to learn about foraging for wild food.
I need to practice: French and Spanish, baking bread, and everything I know a little about.
I'm interested in learning different ways that people in different cultures and ecosystems are raising animals, and I especially want to learn about wildlife management and how domestic livestock can fit into and improve healthy wild land. And of course I want to learn different ways of making cheese!
