About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Pursue and share my passion for music and live like there is no tomorrow!

ABOUT ME

I'm a quirky, creative and open-minded Montrealer who keeps busy with various music projects and my work as a freelance translator. I see the Couchsurfing project as much more than a means to save on accommodations when traveling. It's a way to immerse oneself in the culture and have experiences.

PHILOSOPHY

For me, being happy and fulfilled means having dreams and pursuing them. That is what gives true meaning to my life. Many people give up on their dreams because they think they are crazy and impossible. These dreams should really be taken seriously as they often contain essential ingredients of what we need as individuals to be happy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I joined CouchSurfing in 2009 as I was planning a solo trip to the UK and wanted to make some connections. I have since used the site a few times of times to find hosts and make connections, including in NYC and Hanoi, Vietnam. Also attended some CS weekly meetings.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although my couch is often open to visitors, I haven't been able to host any guests through this actual site for logistical reasons (lots of moves over recent years), but I'm looking forward to doing that in the near future. I love my city and enjoy showing it around to family members or other guests when I can.

As a musician,I used to tour frequently with a band in North America and sleep on many couches. Sometimes the arrangements were made in advance, and other times we would just show up in a city and find people on the spot to put us up. I met a lot of great people this way and also had some very bizarre experiences! These frequent road trips definitely broadened my horizons and changed my perspective of travelling.

Interests

When I'm not working my day job, most of my activities revolve around my music interests. If I'm not rehearsing or performing with some band, I'm either at home working on some music-related project or out at some club checking out a show. I enjoy Montreal's vibrant culture and rarely have time to be bored!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:I have very eclectic musical tastes and listen to pretty much every genre there is, from jazz to classical to noise rock and experimental. I'm constantly discovering new artists and recordings. Some of my all-time favourites include Mike Patton, John Zorn, PJ Harvey, Nick Cave, The Beatles, Nick Drake.

Books: Not an avid reader in everyday life but I enjoy a good book from time to time, especially when I'm travelling. Some favourites include classics such as Siddhartha (Herman Hesse), On The Road (Kerouac), 1984 (Orwell), The Alchemist (Paulo Coehlo)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being a touring musician has allowed me to have many amazing experiences. I've seen most of North America on the road and given hundreds of shows. I've even had a few major musical breaks in my lifetime, performing in front of large crowds. Recently I also discovered the joys of whitewater rafting when visiting my cousin in the Yukon.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a native speaker of both English and French and more than happy to help people improve their skills with either language. My passion for music has also brought me to travel to foreign cities to attend amazing concerts, so I could maybe even introduce you to music that is worth seeing live in your own city. I could even give you a music lesson; my skills are very broad (voice, piano, saxophone, music theory, etc.).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Please see above section. I'm also open to offering gifts, such as typical foods from Montréal or Québec (maple syrup and products or anything else you might like).
