CURRENT MISSION
Dissertation, Dissertation, Dissertation!
ABOUT ME
I'm a grad student at Oxford University. Doing a PhD in Education studies. Its hard work but in a good way.
I used to be a teacher in Holland, Bulgaria, Nepal and England. I love teaching but unfortunately I haven't done any teaching in a while.
Like most of us out here on couchSurfing I love travelling, meeting new people and sharing experiences.
Recently I got really into cake baking and so I'm constantly trying out new recipes or trying to improve old ones. Otherwise I love all kinds of different sports, but swimming is my main thing. Just being out in the water is a great way of keeping sane. For me at least.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm not a 100% certain, but we probably only live once; Make sure to enjoy your life and make sure to make the most out of it! Don't save things for later, now is pretty much all we have.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I attend meetings where I can and I raise people's awareness about this great way of traveling and meeting new people. If and where I can I will host people, but of course my roommate needs to be OK with it as well.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Went to Macedonia with some people from the Sofia Couch Surf Community which was a fantastic experience! Cant believe all the amazing people I've met and the friends that I've made.
I surfed for the first time in Paris and I had a great time!
Later I surfed in: Plovdiv and Burgas in Bulgaria. I also surfed in Oxford for a couple of days. All were very positive experiences.
I hosted some travelers from the United States and I felt very happy to host them. They were the first people to surf my couch and I was their first host. Wonderful people, wonderful experience.
I have hosted people from: NZ, Germany and the US.

Music, Movies, and Books
The last book I read was 1984 by George Orwell, after letting it sink in for a while it has definitely become one of my favorites. The book is very dark and slightly claustrophobic but it urges the reader to think about themselves, their governments and their role in society. Having said that I also greatly enjoyed 'Island' by Aldous Huxley and I also take interest in some Dutch authors.
Last movie I saw was 500 Days of Summer. Great movie, go see it if you can. Other movies I like are: Garden State, Bin Jip, V for Vendetta etc.
I have come to terms with the point that I am somewhat musically retarded. That's ok with me though, still enjoy all kinds of music on the radio and have fun when going out. Very willing to be educated in this area though. :P
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Cliche, but true, the Taj Mahal really is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.
Mount Everest was just about as impressive, totally different, of course. Yet breathtaking nonetheless.
My 2 months in Bulgaria were fantastic. Cant pinpoint one specific thing as every day brought new experiences and new people. Loved it.
