About Me

Hey you, guys! I am now too busy to host more people.

CURRENT MISSION

Learn until the end of my days. When I loose the capacity of learning something new, it's time to leave this world.

ABOUT ME

I am an anthropologist. Now living in Santarém, PA and do my doctorate in France. I do Filedwork with the Karajá indians(Araguaya river).

Love to travel is probably a common self-description here in CS, so it's not necessary to repeat that. I adapt very well to different situations, love to taste different food and learn languages.

I am interested on different people, like to know their culture, their history, their wanderings.

I`ve travelled across Latin America: I`ve been in Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and Mexico. Out of my beloved Latinamerica, I backpacked in Spain, Portugal, Greece, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and USA. And I my country I know all regions (Pará. Tocantins, Mato Grosso, Maranhão, Bahia, Sergipe, Esp. Santo, Rio, SP, Minas and Rio Grande do Sul).

PHILOSOPHY

I am an integral anthropologists, i mean, I am always trying to understand and discover how people really live their lives. That's why I prefer CS for travelling than Hotels, for exemple. Travel by backpacking is a way to be touchable, you buy your food in local markets, you take the local ways of transportation, you see the face of the people, you try to communicate on their language (or share your bad english with them). Love travelling, I can't imagine my life without this.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host people and stay on their houses.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In my USA trip I stayed for some hours in Carolyn's house, in Omaha. Just for resting after 35 hours of Greyhound bus...

Showed Paris to a peruvian girl some years ago. My last trip to Europe I've stayed in Alexandre Kalk's house by the border with Switzerland, have been in Yoni Reshef's place for one night in Oestgest and one week with Daniela Gawens in Leiden, Netherlands.

Received three people in my chácara in Marília where I was living until last year. Here in Santarém I still didn't received no one.

Interests

Besides anthropology, my passion is literature and travelling.

Overall the latin-american literature, but I read a lot from everywhere (love Italian moderns and germans, discovering French and anglophone literature now).

Like to take photos, but I'm not a very great photographer. I am timid to disturb the people. Hope to get better in this activity.

I am interested in politics and try to be well informed on what is going on in the world. But sometimes like now, when I am coming back from fieldwork, I stay some weeks without understanding very well the newspaper...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sun sets, full moon are amazing things i`ve seen. But the most remarkable experience was the "moon set" once, when I woke up by 3.00 a.m. in a Karaja village and the full moon was reflected over the waters of Araguaya river. I will never forget that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am crazy for learning languages. From these I already speak, I can teach you a little.

I can teach you a little croche. I'm not sure if you write it like this in english. Just the basic points to make carpets like an old grandmom (ha ha ha, but my grandmas didn't know croche!). Learning it was my strategy to approach the shy women from the Karaja indigenous group. It worked well and I learned this artisanat.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Chile, England, France, Germany, Greece, Mexico, Netherlands, Peru, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland, United States, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In

Brazil, France
